Author Comments:

Hm, three tracks with (parentheses) in a row on CD1 and none anywhere else. I'm not sure why this intrigue me but it does.

Nice work!

I would totally buy that (although the exclusion of "Orange Crush" disappoints).

Thanks!

Hm, "Orange Crush" might be an oversight. I was on the fence about whether to include it - it's not a personal favourite, but it's pretty popular among R.E.M. fans in general.

Hey Wezzo

Whats your opinion on the songs "Turn You Inside-Out" from Green & "The Outsiders" from around the sun, two songs i've lately been listening to quite a bit

Not a big fan of "Turn You Inside Out".
Love "The Outsiders". Nice beat, and the chorus has a tendency to get stuck in my head, even though it's not catchy in the traditional sense.

fair enough on "inside Out". The reasons i'm quite liking it is, though he doesn't do this often, in the chorus, stipe sings quite aggressivly, shows a more angry side, which i think is quite interesting. It maybe less of his actual singing but the lyrics. given how subtle and mellow he can be in songs like nightswimming & everybody hurts.

me too ! always gets caught in my head, i'm a big fan of Around the sun album, think its my 3rd fave of theirs

Yeah I know what you mean about "TIYO". I find he did that aggressive stuff better on the "Monster" and "Accelerate" albums though.

Interesting we agree about "Around The Sun", it's generally seen as one of their worst, though I'm definitely a big fan of it. Lots of great songs on it.
