(R) - Repeat Viewing

Would love to get your thoughts on futurama beast with billion backs ?

my basic sum up is this - on the whole, funnier than bender's big score in terms of laugh by minute. some great scenes and jokes, bender's son being my favourite, fry's date in 2d, deathball , most of zaps stuff

however i did feel it was trying to many bstories, such as the love triangle of kiff/zap/amy deserved better, as did bender's robot club. I felt bender's score was an all together better movie, maybe not as funny but better as a whole due to it's one story.

But still, Beast with billion backs was very very fun watch

I liked Bender's Big Score, but I did think The Beast With A Billion Backs was marginally better.

The jokes were definitely funnier, on the whole. The Bender's son bit was great, and I loved Deathball.

The B-stories thing I can somewhat concur with, and tied in to that, there seems a continued desperation to jam in as many one-shot characters from the past as possible. But I felt it fit to overlook the flaws as it was so funny. :-D

Bender's Big Score had a more well-developed story, no doubt. It win in that department. But TBWABB's superior comedy more than makes up for that, IMO.

Both are about 9/10 for me though.

Did you get the DVD, by the way? Did you see the preview for the next movie? (I forget if it's tagged on the end of the movie, or a DVD extra.)

Did you really feel the number of subplots was any different in the two films? I would say that both movies really have a fair share of B-stories; Bender's Big Score features the Fry/Leela/Lars love triangle, how Earth deals with the scammer robots, Hermes getting decapitated, and many subplots following a few different versions of Fry and Bender (including the narwhal diversion). I could never call that "one story." Sure, they interweave, but so do the different subplots of Beast With a Billion Backs ( Bender's robot club plays into the way the humans avoid the tentacle, and his robot pirates of course save the day in the end; Kiff and Amy may seem less tied into the main story, but I think it heavily relates to the main point of love's inherent jealousy ).

I agree with you that Bender's Big Score was probably not quite as funny as Beast With a Billion Backs but was a better film due to its stronger story. I also think, though, that Beast kinda fell apart in the last half hour both in terms of story and humor, perhaps because it just got too weird. The Bender's son bit was probably the last good laugh I had.

Yeah i guess now you say, there were a few subplots in bender's big score, especially Hermes which thinking about it really didn't have anything to do with the main story and yes you're right with the points you made about how the Bstories work in relation to the main story inbeast with billion backs.

I guess maybe i was just more invested into the emotional story of bender's big score fry/lars/leela so it helped me enjoy the movie mor as a whole.

Agreed.

did u actually buy S11? i couldn't bring myself to do it, saying that i couldn't even by S10, i stopped at 9

I did buy it, yeah, but it's by far the worst season. I'm just obsessive-compulsive when it comes to DVDs! The whole set is poor though - the packaging is just shit (the DVDs are in cardboard sleeves that cover the entire disc, so removing discs is not easy), the commentaries are weaker than ever (Matt Groening is only on two) and the other extras are less and less substantial. Add to that the poor episodes and you've got a DVD set that only a mother would buy. And by "mother", I mean "obsessive-compulsive DVD fan".

ha even Matt Groening is distancing himself from the show! It always suprises me how yeardley smith always asks questions like she's never been part of the show before :)
