- About Me
I like heroic fiction whether it's in novels, movies, TV, or graphic novels. Growing up reading about or watching heroes that ACTED on their moral beliefs, is probably one of the big reasons that I joined the Army.
I also crave well written entertainment that makes you think about important moral/philosophical issues. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Utopian Literature and really like the social commentary mixed with the imagination of science fiction. That's what science fiction has that makes it so much deeper than other forms of literature.
As for music, I'm all about hard rock that is loud and energizing, but also carefully crafted. A moment of silence before the thunder is far more effective than constant noise. I love inspiring guitar riffs all the more when they're offset by calm piano, flute, violin, or electronica.
Most of my lists are intended to encourage others to experience works of entertainment that really positively impacted my life. My other intent is for people who read my lists to recommend some similar works that I might enjoy. I think we'd all prefer it if we could experience those rare gems of entertainment without having to suffer through tons of duds.
