Glad you like it. It's been a real chore to compile, and I'm not done yet. I think that I'm going to have to break the list up by alphabet or something, because it's just too long to casually peruse.
It's not actually films made prior to 2004, it's films I've seen since 2004.
It's only since then that I started using a ranking system at all. Before that it was just like/dislike, which is reflecting here too.
DNF. (9 May) Three Times (2006, Hou Hsiao-Hsien) (v) [Babies and Triple H don't mix.]
Ha! Toddlers don't mix any better. It took me almost a week to plod thru this, and then I kinda felt like I lost the thread along the way. Beautiful , but slooooow.
I didn't have a problem with Kurt R., but Freddy Rodriguez (miscast - the mysterious El Wray, really?), Rosario (snore) and Rose McG (beautiful, but dull) really missed for me.
The B-actors featured, like Jeff Fahey and Michael Biehn, know how to pull this type of movie off.

Thanks for the comment, but my original Faulkner crack was kind of a joke. A poor joke, but a joke all the same.
Would it be funnier if I used Steinbeck as the example?
As usual, fools rush in where angels fear to tread. In other words, here we go again.
Heyrocker for prez! Thank you, sir.
Thursdays are good movie nights, but you've got to be dedicated to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks. Congrats!
P.S. I don't stalk. It's not in my nature.
Thanks. We'll see. Van Sant tends to run hot and cold for me.
You're absolutely right. He must get thirsty after chewing every piece of scenery...
I like the list - and I like the discussion after it.
Now that's listing!
I like the Ward Bond maxim, and am also surprised to see he appears in so many memorable films.
Cloned this, since I'm already trying to plow through some of these gaps on my own.
Like you, I'm pretty top-heavy on the ones I've viewed: lots in the first 250, and then it gets sparser from there.
Ooh! Me too! I love racing for last!

Glad to see some reviews from CIFF.
Had heard such good things about Control, but now you're giving me pause.
I'm really looking forward to Age of Ignorance, since I've enjoyed just about everything I've seen by director Arcand.
Just found this:
