I would have included:
-Elliott Smith - Thirteen (Big Star)
-Jeff Buckley - Farwell, Angelina (Bob Dylan)
-Rufus Wainwright - Across the Universe (Beatles)
-Cat Power - I Found a Reason (Velvet Underground)
-Otis Redding - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Rolling Stones)
-Echo & the Bunnymen - People are Strange (The Doors)
Hated Pearl Jam's cover of "Last Kiss." Loved Lauryn Hill. Also, Johnny Cash was more badass than usual in covering NIN. Heard the video was something to see, too.
Interesting list. I second The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Joy Division, and REM. I'm a huge Smiths fan, too, but that song never really did anything for me. Well, that and "Golden Lights."
T.S. Eliot is by far my favorite poet. I'm assuming The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is in that collection. Otherwise, what's the point?
Hated The Iliad and The Odyssey. The Republic is not a book I'd go wild about, but it has grown on me.

33. Yo La Tengo - You Can Have It All
Read some Milan Kundera.
I would definitely take The Queen is Dead, and I'd probably take Automatic for the People and Blonde on Blonde. So yay.
I'd take Astral Weeks over Tupelo Honey, and I'd never take a Stones album. :]
