Hey all,
I've been listening to trance and electronic dance music in general for a long time now (approx.6 years) but when I started listening to trance it was 2000! So, I am not as familiar with the classical trance that started surfacing in the early 90's but nevertheless I have listened to them. From what I can see it was an era of experimentation but when I look back to 2000-2003 some of my favourite songs came out. I understand that some of the early stuff was unique and all but I can't help but feel like it was during 2000- present date that the real good stuff came out. I love the epic, anthemic stuff it's so fun and traney! And now Armin is really creating a style of his own that resembles some of the old progressive stuff and I love that too! It's cool to see that trance isn't as "cheesy" as it used to be and some of the new stuff coming out has a lot more subtle elements in the tracks but they are more potent when it comes to the "trance trip". Still I am a sucker for the epic stuff and anthems. I can't describe the impact that trance music has had in my life. I will always be a fan of the genre, and I think it has so much potential to continue to flourish in the future.
Some of my favourites:
Gouryella/Out of the Blue - System F
Seven Cities/ Solar Stone
Ecstacy/Darude
Nightfly/Blank and Jones
Heartbeats/Chemistry
Escape/Dj Kaycee
Burned with Desire/ Armin Van Buuren
Suburban Train/ Tiesto
9pm till I come/ ATB
For an Angel/ Paul Van Dyk
Storm of Light/Neo Cortex
Eternity/ Armin Van Buuren
Hey Tremor!
I was planning on going to Trebas Inst. for their open house tonight. Was wondering if you know anything about them and if its a good school to go to simply to learn how to produce some trance music. I am located in the Montreal area.
In your opinion, what is the best production program out there for some 1 like me who has never really had experience composing before. BTW would u happen to know when the next time Armin van buuren is coming to Montreal?
Hey tremor, i was wondering if there's a way to get private lessons to compose trance music? I heard somewhere that you are canadian. So am I. Also should check out the song Ecstacy by Darude. That's a classic in my books!
hey darktremor, I've read your list a couple of times and i have to admit it is quite impressive. I've been listening to electronic music for at least 6 years now and trance is by far the best! I have a question and a comment. Question: Is benni bennassi considered trance? or house? If you can be even more specific that would be great. Comment: I've really taken a liking for two artists in particular. Chemistry and Neo Cortex. I recommend you listen to:
- Heartbeats/Chemistry
- Storm of Light/Neo Cortex
