That's something I had forgotten so I take that one back. Always wanted to happen on film?

Naw, sure that's happened before too. :)

I'm not saying that the character Vincent Gallo plays loves himself as that's obviously not the case (he basically tortures himself through the whole movie). However, Vincent Gallo as director, producer, and writer spends the whole movie trying to fulfill his ego. A "here's a shot of me riding my motorcycle across the Utah salt flats for 5 minutes, don't I look awesome?" sort of thing.

And it's pretty obvious that he wrote the scene with Chloe Sevigny just for himself because it's something he's always wanted to happen. There was no point in making it that graphic otherwise.

"Nude For Satan" does have the bad special effects going for it in an almost humorous way. But so much of the movie seemed to take itself seriously that I couldn't give it the benefit of the doubt as schlock.

My thought though is that if Vincent Gallo's muse is that much focus on himself it implies some ego.

Perhaps it's that I'm just not fond of Gallo getting in the way.

Thanks. I just kind of threw it together. In case you couldn't tell by 2 being a statement and not an actual critique. :)

I would be honored.

This is just a thought and disregard it if you want. I think it would be kind of cool to add how many movies were watched since the last update as part of the name. For example:

greenmind: 58 (+11).

I think it would be a nice way to show what kind of pace people are at for the rest of us to see who's picking up the pace, slacking off (or, you know, doing things besides movies), etc.

As long as the time machine doesn't break before you've gone back in time to change the end date on the warranty.

No...will not get sucked into the paradoxes of time travel discussion.

Not without watching "Back To The Future" again first at least.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought about that. That's the time I find to listen to the 20 podcasts that I do. :)

Where do you find time to listen to music with all of the movies? Have you made a time machine? Can I buy it off of you? :)

Edited for television is such an odd thing to pin down. Personally, all but two of my list were seen absolutely, positively unedited because they were movie theater/DVD or on pay cable, commericial free, uncut (Flix, Plex, and IFC). "Grizzly Man" and "The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle" were free cable with commercial but besides the bleeps in "Grizzly Man" neither were edited in any way that I know of from people who have seen them both ways.

Movies I Do Not Want To See

You're really missing out by avoiding a couple of those movies. "The 40-Year Old Virgin" looks bad on paper but it actually proves to be very funny. It's Judd Apatow (from "Freaks And Geeks").

"Anchorman" is pretty much the same kind of thing. I avoiding seeing it for ages too but gave in an laughed immensely.

I'm actually missing "Polyester" right now on IFC. But I swear next time it's on, I'll watch it. :)

I think that's the most common reaction to John Waters. I've never really appreciated his films either though there is that train wreck, shock value factor that keeps you coming back. I will say if you didn't like "Pink Flamingos" you probably won't like anything else either.

Hairspray (which I didn't find shocking so much as annoying), Cry-Baby (which I don't remember but didn't like), and pieces of Polyester and Serial Mom.

Pecker is supposed to be his masterwork, but I'm so scared of the Waters experience that I've totally avoided it.

I hear you. Welcome to the world of rating on personal feelings and not some sort of critical faculties. It does make for some interesting rating disagreements with people who rate on some sort of quality analysis based on years of comparing movies and/or formal education.

It's certainly not for the faint of heart. But it is the perfect way to discover if you can handle John Waters or not.
