The Beatles

Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artists (2011)

  • 1.The Beatles - Right Choice. They did everything, they made anything. Wrote some of the most famous and influential songs and albums. They are The Beatles.

  • 2.Bob Dylan

  • 3.Elvis Presley
 - Yes he was THE most popular artist of the 50's, but he always seemed to me as more of a figure of pop culture than a true musical artist. He also did not write his own songs. Could be lower.

They'd already scored a major hit earlier in the year with the surprisingly sophisticated ballad, "Yesterday," from Help!
