Video Games I've Completed in 2008 & 2009
In Order i complete them, most recent at the bottom
Condemned: Criminal Origins
A deep and involving game. A twist on your usual first person, with hardly any guns, your weapons come in the form of wooden planks, wrenches and pipes, to bash around the head of your enemy. One of the scariest games i've played, along with a top notch story, also mixed with the detective elements make for one great gaming experience.
Halo 3
I was never the biggest fan of the Halo series. I had played Halo 1 on two-player co-op, played bits of Halo 2. I found that it did nothing new, plus a lot of the maps were samey and i got fed up of metalic corrido after metaltic corridor. However, after playing Halo 3, and finishing it, i'm starting to see what the fuss is about. It's so addictive! Every chapter finished, i was like "hmm maybe i'll do one more". It was like 5pm wheni started one go at this game, then looked at the clock and it was 8 30, three and half hours seemed to fly by. Halo 3 has made a fanboy outa me. Stick around till the credits, also read the messages to family and friends by the crew, a nice touch, my fave being "To Batman & Superfriends".
Grand Theft Auto IV
No change in the format really. The missions are the same but whats different is though the format of the missions are the same (kill this guy, kill that guy) it's the characters that make this a step above the rest. Nico is by far the best protagonist in a GTA game and one of the finest characters of any game. Here has depth to him. It's the depth of character that gives GTA IV such an edge, its also the social stuff like being able to get drunk or simple stuff like taking a cab. I have to say i missed the level of variation on the map that San Andreas gave (i missed the mountains A LOT) but it's still a cracking game. The multiplayer online is something i never thought possible. When GTA 1 came out, i thought "wonder if they'll ever be able to do this in 3D" then GTA 3 came out and i was like "yeah but online would be impossible" but now both are a reality. It's crazy online but i always thought it would be. theres nothing better than a good car chase or chase on foot. Deserves all the praise.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The best war game i've played. A great Campaign mode but it's the online feature that makes the game so damn good. The best online shooter on a console IMO.
Call of Duty: World at War
COD 4 is no longer my favuorite war game, this is. It's not that much different really but the Campaign is far more brutal. When you are fighting the imperial army and they are running at you with knives and flamethrowers, its amazingly tense. so gritty and viseral, amazing gameplay. then of course there is the online wihch is just as good as COD4 no changes really. some co-op stuff and the brilliant "Nazi Zombies" mode. another fantastic game, i wonder where they will go for the next call of duty?
