Casting the Da Vinci Code

The book the Da Vinci Code is going to made into a film in 2005, with Ron Howard directing. I read the book about a month ago, at the insistance of my wife, and while it was really just an average book IMHO; I was intrigued by the subject matter and thought it was a natural to be adapted into a film. It almost reads like a script actually.
I was wondering if anyone who has read the book has any thoughts on who should be cast for the film.

I wish I could help you out. That book was actually our book club book, and they met on Monday. We're on indefinite hiatus from book club while my wife's in grad school though, so we went to see Return of the King instead.

Time well spent

I'm reading The DaVinci Code on and off lately; personally, I think it's garbage. It's poorly written, and despite the implausibility of it all, Dan Brown's lack of writing skill fails to draw you into the story and accept what should be a fully-realized, well-imagined mystery (mystery novels for the most part are a waste of time if you can figure them out within the first few chapters, which is why I avoid reading them). However, I am very interested in seeing the book brought to the screen. It could be like The Godfather, which was another crap book made much better on screen.

I whole-heartedly agree. I am generally a non-fiction reader, but my wife, who teaches art history, thought I would be interested in this book. While I did find the subject intriguing; the book itself read like a TV movie script or an Encyclopedia Brown mystery. I can only hope that the results of the film are even half as good as the Godfather; but I doubt that Ron Howard has the same passion for the art of film as a young Francis Ford Coppolla.
