She goes around but she stays away
Anchored to a fantasy
Not understanding how the man she loves
Could see her with such contempt
She thinks about him every day
Anchored to a memory
Not understanding the man she knows
Idealizing the man she knew
She selectively forgets the past
Anchored to the scattered debris
Not understanding how she could love
The man she just despises
Love has a nasty habit of never going away

Nice poem! This is the kind of poetry I like to write. Short, simple, rhythmic and rhyming.
Is there a specific inspiration for the expression of these thoughts, or did the 'idea' just come to mind?
Thanks! Yeah, this was fun to write. It's loosely based on a friend of mine (or, how she was about a year ago when I actually wrote it; I just haven't bothered to post it until now).
Bonus points if you can identify the reference to a rock song.
As I rarely pay attention to lyrics, I'll have to leave that challenge to someone else!
