  • 7. Street Fight (2005) - documentary on Newark NJ mayoral race (good!)
  • 8. Mondovino (2005) - boring documentary on wine industry and bigs vs. littles
  • 9. Wall-E (2008) - fabulous new Pixar.
  • 10. DIY or Die (2002) - low-budget documentary interviewing independent artists
  • 11. Through Deaf Eyes (2007) - PBS documentary on deaf culture and history
  • 12. The Tracey Fragments (2007) - odd drama w/ Ellen Page, with experimental editing techniques
  • 13. Stone Reader (2001) - fun doc on search for an author
  • 14. Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing... (2005) - ugh.
  • 15. Dolls (2002) - Japan bunraku brought to life, lovely.
  • 16. I Like Killing Flies
  • 17. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
  • 18. Brother Born Again (2001) - great documentary on finding brother who found jesus and a separatist religious community
  • 19. The Business of Being Born (2008) - illuminating POV on the medicalization of pregnancy and birth
  • 20. The Forest For the Trees (Der Wald vor lauter Bäumen) (2003) - uncomfortable character, decent film
  • 21. Following Sean (2005) - great Apted-style followup documentary on kid who grew up in the Haight
  • 22. Paper Clips (2004) - documentary about kids who collected paper clips and learned about the Holocaust
  • 23. Jesus Camp (2006) - scary doc on evangelical kids
  • 24. Conversations with Other Women (2005) - Eckhart/Bonham Carter talking
  • 25. Sherrybaby (2006) - addict mom trying to get life and kid back. Excellent
  • 26. Free Zone (2005) - intense, but disappointing
  • 27. King of Masks (1999) - Chinese film about old Master of mask magic seeking a male heir. Sweet.
  • 28. Red Without Blue (2007) - documentary about identical twins & their experience through adolescence and adulthood
  • 29. Meet Bill (2007) - decent, like the recent Quaid one, the guy reclaims his life.
  • 30. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) - cute, but fluffy.
  • 31. Strange Days (2007) - terrifying documentary on the power of unchecked government. Yes, documentary, yes, in the US.
