  • **There are a number of the greatest R&B artists who’ve had three or more albums that could easily rival each other and leave you stumped when trying to select one of them to go into a greatest 'R&B Albums' list(like Mary J Blige's-What’s the 411, My Life & Share my World---and Boyz II Men's-II, Evolution and Nathan, Mike, Shawn & Wanya) Because of this ranking dilemma caused by these high quality artists who have accomplished this feet of multiple great albums, I realized that a completely new type of list needed to be created. So now, I believe I’ve created the ultimate list of the Top 25 greatest R&B artists who meet the five criteria of this list by gracing us with the most (1)critically acclaimed, greatest bodies of R&B work with (2)quality vocal ability and (3)quality song writing exhibited on (4)multiple songs on each of 3 albums or more. And to make this list, these artists also had to have (5)substantial music chart success with each album. Without leaving out any particular decade of R&B, and listed ofcourse in no particular order, this without question makes them THEE Top 25 Greatest R&B Artists with the highest number of potential greatest R&B albums of all time:

  • **I hope you fellow R&B lovers enjoyed this list as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Eventhough I already had a very stong knowledge and appreciation for R&B songs and artists from every R&B generation, I did extra research on some R&B artists that I love(like Babyface, Al Green, Guy, En Vouge and Marvin Gaye to name a few) who didn't meet the criteria of the list. These artists, for example, all had a number of great hits that we love, but usually they'd fall short when it came to the fourth(4)& fifth(5) criteria mentioned above and sometimes not enough substantial critical accaim(1st criteria) for three albums or more(4th criteria). They're still among the greatest artists of all time, ofcourse. They just don't meet the overall level of 'great albums' accomplishment as the greatest R&B artists who did make this list.
