I will add to this list if she remembers more.

That's a lot of films. If I were to count all the movies my mother has seen in theaters, I have a feeling I wouldn't run out of fingers and toes.
Really?! Why is that?
In her own words, she was too busy becoming a doctor, marrying, raising two kids, and running a six member family, apart from many things. And oh, movies put her to sleep. Literally.
Excellent reasons! My mother raised six kids. :)
Six! It must be a great feeling to have 5 siblings. I can say I envy you =). I absolutely love my sister though. I only wish I had a younger sibling as well. Sigh.
Yes, it is! My parents made many sacrifices to stay married and have a large family. I love my brothers and sisters very much.
I am glad to hear you love your sister. :)
I am in the middle, the fourth, so I have younger and older siblings of each persuasion.
You keep giving me more and more reasons to envy you! Someday I hope to emulate my parents' success at marriage. They both are doctors, so you can imagine how strenous it might have been.
I wonder what it would be like to have doctors as parents. My folks are well-educated, but humble. Neither of them managed to have a successful career. I think my mother sacrificed the most, because she could have had a great career, but she stayed home with us kids until we were all in school.
It is not too different from having non-doctor parents. Except when you fall ill. The whole house is reeling under tension then. It is fun too. Our entire family - my parents, my sister and myself are in medicine (I am in med school and my sister just passed out and is an intern). Our 'normal' conversations befuddle visitors at our home at times =).
My folks came from extremely humble backgrounds as well. I guess their story puts the 'value of hard work' into perspective for me. My mother also sacrificed a lot.. she could have a roaring practice by now. But she chose a low profile job and made sure she was always home before sending us to school and also to receieve us when we came back from school, amongst other things. Yeah, you can say I had a pretty solid family. Boy, am I glad for that!
We have a lot to be grateful for.
I like the list - and I like the discussion after it.
Thank you. My mother was very selective.
