I was on a quest to be ready for the Academy Awards. I wanted to see anything that might take an award away from The Lord of the Rings, so maybe I could understand better why it lost. I can say now that it worked. I actually understood the Oscars for the first time. I think there were a few awards LOTR should have won for the first movie, but were given to the final movie instead, as compensation. Otherwise, they deserved every award they received, and more.
Bonus: I was able to win fourth place in a "predict the Oscars" contest which I'd never done before.
Impressive! I had no idea you were seeing so many new releases in addition to all the classics you've been watching. I love the no-frills notes, with my favorite being your Secret Lives of Dentists comment. :-)

I was able to compile the above list by using the official Academy Awards database for eligible 2003 films and then checking off what I'd seen. I was amazed at how many there were.
I should start a 2004 list, but it couldn't be alphabetical--yet.
