Hey, I noticed a typo. You've got Mclusky Do Dallas at 7.5. I know that's really supposed to be 7,000.5. Just thought I'd give you a heads-up. :-)

Tehe, It sure is a great album =). Sad thing is, they won't have another chance to produce an album as good as or even better than Do Dallas because of their breakup. Who's your favourite band of the 00s?

In terms of rock music, it would probably have been The Blood Brothers. But they broke up too. Drat. Maybe Isis?

Oh, who'm I kidding, it's still Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Also, don't give short shrift to Andy Falkous's new band Future of the Left - they're pretty groovy. The fire of Mclusky with a more experimental, electronic-flecked sound.

Nice, I shall probably get their debut soonish. =)

You wrote Massive Attack instead of Portishead Matt :)

A few you may like...

Comets on Fire - Field Recordings From the Sun
Xiu Xiu - La Foret
The Bug - London Zoo
Sufjan Stevens - Illnois
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
The Microphones - Mount Eerie

The number of 7.5's shows the huge difference between that and an 8.0; the former is still a brilliant album, well worth listening to and basically a masterpiece - but 8.0's are just that extra leap in greatness (hence their rarity). As for Ys, another league all together. =)

The Mars Volta is now an 8.5 - There were numerous disagreements with their record label and so a title track from the album was scrapped, later to be placed on the B-side of The Widow, however the Band have stated that it is meant to be played at the start of the album before Cygnus...

This track is of a similar nature to the longer suites on the album, and provides the perfect exposition for the lp; Primus-esque guitar with dense ambient noise and primordial screams dominate this 14-minute masterpiece. I hope all fans of the album root this one out as it makes a masterpiece even better.

Last.fm comes up trumps as without that we may never have discovered the existance of the track Frances The Mute let alone that it was intended to be on the album. Another example of a major record label diminishing what should have been released as an even greater album.
