- I just get so much more out of this than the Newsom on a personal level. The Newsom is most likely the objective best of the year, but this album is just on a different level to me.
- Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me
- She's done it again. I'll share my thoughts when I feel I've digested the album and excreted it to an acceptable level.
- Demdike Stare - Liberation Through Hearing
- Salem - King Night
- I love this. SO much.

I have a lingering fear that the new Xiu Xiu album will be profoundly awful. Let's pray for another A Promise or La Foret though.
I love running lists!
I'm mostly fascinated by this:
52. Dum Dum Girls - Yours Alone. An open letter to God. Dear God, Don't do this to me! Please! I like No Age, Psychedelic Horseshit, Smith Western, Vivian Girls etc. Don't ruin this genre for me with crap like this. Please don't. Thank you. Yours sincerely, James.
Why the sudden turnaround? Is the rest of the album in fact BETTER than the single? (I don't know the band, but like you I'm sure a hair away from being done with the genre)
Because well, the album is so so so much better quality than that EP. The melodies are more mature, the handling of the 'noise' is better, it's also less lo-fi. The band is really going into something good. The thing about this how kinda genre, is that it mixes beautiful melodies with dissonant noise. And on that ground, this album is much better, brilliant in fact. I guess this is just my personal tastes coming in, I could see why someone could dismiss it easily, but it just makes me happy.
Yeah.
Skream's Outside the Box is out now, interested to hear your thoughts on it. Incidentally, how do you feel about his debut?
My favorite track of the year so far
You should check out Homeboy Sandman's The Good Sun, a really strong work.. was surprised I'd never heard of him before. Also Kendrick Lamar is a promising up comer, I really dug his O.D. mixtape.
Happy new year!
