- "I do solemnly swear that I will SUPPORT and DEFEND the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God." - Oath of Office taken by members of congress and military officers (among others).
- Our military servicemen DEFEND the Constitution by serving in combat overseas. Now let's SUPPORT the Constitution on the homefront by voting for Ron Paul because of his consisistent adherence to the principles and wisdom of our Founding Fathers. The U.S. Constitution is a miraculous guideline for a free and strong society and we need to force our government to closely adhere to it once again.
Who is Ron Paul?
- Ron Paul grew up on a Pennsylvania dairy farm with a strong work-ethic and family values.
- Ron Paul served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. Most politicians today have never served in our military.
- Ron Paul's profession is medicine. He's a doctor who has delivered thousands of babies. He is not a lawyer like the majority of politicians nowadays.
- Ron Paul is a family man. He has been married to his wife, Carol, for 50 years and they have five children.
- Ron Paul has served as a U.S. Congressman in Texas for 20 years.
Why Vote for Ron Paul?
- Ron Paul is for smaller government, less government spending, less taxes, and more freedom and privacy for the individual.
- Ron Paul is a strong advocate of States Rights, just like Thomas Jefferson. Let the States decide tough issues for themselves at the local level, just like it says in the Constitution. For example, as a doctor, Ron Paul is pro-life, but he supports letting States decide the legality of abortion for themselves.
- Ron Paul advocates bringing our troops home to protect our own borders. He opposes illegal immigration and supports constructing a fence on the Mexico border.
- Ron Paul supports converting to a free market healthcare system, pointing out that the present system is akin to a corporatist-fascist system which keeps prices high. In industries with free markets, prices go down due to technological innovation. This is prevented from happening because of our current corporatist health care system. The way things are now, HMOs don't have to compete for patients. Therefore, patients are treated poorly. In a competitive market, health care companies would be forced to have better patient care and better customer service in order to attract patients.
- Ron Paul emphasizes the need to cut government spending. That will allow hard working Americans to keep more of their hard earned dollars for themselves. This helps the economy. Reducing government spending is also critical in order to start repairing our skyrocketing national debt of 9 trillion dollars. We should not leave such a terrible mess for our children to deal with when they grow up.
- Ron Paul is not afraid to speak the truth, while other politicians silently accept their kickbacks from the powerful elite. Ron Paul courageously points out the wrongs of the Federal Reserve, our central bank, which fosters runaway debt by increasing the money supply - making each dollar in your pocket worth less. The Fed is a PRIVATE bank run by unelected officials who are not required to be open or accountable to "we the people." Ron Paul is dedicated to restoring the power to control the money supply back to Congress.
- Ron Paul is for a strong America with a strong foreign policy. Ron Paul advocates strong international presence through diplomacy, economic trade, travel, and communication. Ron Paul is against starting pre-emptive wars.
- Ron Paul opposes international organizations that threaten our independence as a nation such as NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, and WTO. These organizations consolidate and transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites. Such organizations are attempting to merge the U.S., Canada, and Mexico into one country. Such organizations make it more profitable for American businesses and factories to move overseas, taking away American jobs and giving them to foreign countries with abusive child labor and sweat shops.
- Ron Paul recognizes that the biggest threat to our privacy is the government. The problem of identity theft largely stems from the government forcing us to use our Social Security Number in the private sector, such as bank accounts. Ron Paul voted against The "Patriot" Act because it allows the government to spy on your internet activity, your library records, and even search your home without your knowledge.
Ron Paul's Voting Record
- never voted to raise taxes
- never voted for an unbalanced budget
- never voted to raise congressional pay
- never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership
- voted against the Iraq War
- voted against the Patriot Act
- voted against the Military Commissions Act
- voted against regulating the Internet
- voted against every bill contrary to or prohibited by the U.S. Constitution
My Favorite Ron Paul Quotes
- "If the justifications for war were wrong; If the war is going badly; If we can't afford the costs, both human and economic... If the reasons for staying are no more credible than the reasons for going; then why the dilemma? The American people have spoken, and continue to speak out against this war. So why not end it? How do we end it? Why not exactly the way we went in? We just marched in, and we can just march out."
- "I believe our founding fathers had it right when they argued for peace and commerce between nations, and against entangling political and military alliances."
- "A perfect economic storm is facing America, caused by a federal government that spends, borrows, and prints so much money that our dollars are eroding in value at an alarming rate."
- "A limited, constitutional government would not tempt special interests to buy the politicians who wield power."

I've voted against candidates before (especially Bush). Ron Paul is the first candidate I've actually wanted to vote for.
On your list of "Why Vote for Ron Paul,", I'd say your first 5 reasons are irrelevant. It's the issues that matter. If Ron Paul had been convicted of rape at age 20 and never served in the military OR government, I would still vote for him because of the issues.
Good point. Whoever has the best stance on the issues should be the person to support. Unfortunately, too often candidates are very vague and general about their positions to try and appeal to everyone and having no sound argument to back up their positions. I'll move those first five bullets to "Who is Ron Paul?"
I'm stoked to hear another listology member will be voting for him.
I don't live in the US, but i don't understand these State rights thing, if every state decides things for themselves, why do you need an union then?
Best way to understand the U.S. government is to read the U.S. Constitution. It is an amazing document and only takes 20-30 minutes to read. Basically, if its not expressly written in the Constitution, then the federal government does not have the power to do it, and that power remains at the state level. A federal government is crucial for several things, especially for providing a national defense (military).
Is he going to run as a Libertarian like he did before if he is not the republican candidate?
No. Ron Paul understands the bias in the U.S. election system against 3rd party candidates. The only way to have a real chance at winning is either as a Democrat or Republican. He will not run as a libertarian or as an independent. Don't be fooled by the mainstream media and their "scientific" polls. Ron Paul has a very legitimate shot at winning the Republican nomination, ESPECIALLY if he wins the New Hampshire primary.
Of course he wouldn't win, but by running he can't take votes away, and i belive he can get over 8% of the national vote as a libertarian, which could help into getting them more national attention.
Some states are so biased against third party candidates that they don't even put them on the ballot. In Oklahoma, you only have 2 options for President: democrat or republican.
I greatly admire his ability to motivate a large group of supporters to promote and to support him.
Unfortunately, he is a libertarian, and I have no faith in libertarians' views of how a country should run.
Alas...
Shalom, y'all!
