Author Comments:

By, weird, I don't mean necessarily bad. I actually like weird moments in films, especially comedies. They can be thought-provoking.

i agree with:

Serpico: the High School Play (Rushmore)
Bill Murray's Sons (Rushmore)

those moments seem very different and kind of left me silent, Bill Murray's Sons more so though.

Great list. A personal favorite of mine is when Robin Williams begins following the object of his affection in Grand Central Station and suddenly the crowd begins waltzing, befitting his frame of mind. (Fisher King)

Your mention of George C. Scott tripping and/or falling in (Dr. Strangelove) brought a smile. I always wondered if there was a story behind that one quick moment. Accidental? Improved? Totally weird!

I think it was accidental, but it went so well with his ranting and raving that Kubrick just kept it in. Some of these I have are a little silly and embarrassing. I don't remember that part in The FIsher King.

I think the strangest bit in The Big Lebowski is when the Dude and Walter go to talk to the kid that doesn't speak. Walter Sobchak: Is this your homework, Larry? Is this your homework, Larry?
The Dude: Look, man...
Walter Sobchak: Dude, please? Is this your homework, Larry?
The Dude: Just ask him about the car.
Walter Sobchak: Is this yours, Larry? Is this your homework, Larry?
The Dude: Is that your car out front?
Walter Sobchak: Is this your homework, Larry?
The Dude: We know it's his fucking homework! Where's the fucking money, you little brat?
Walter Sobchak: Look, Larry. Have you ever heard of Vietnam?
The Dude: Oh, for Christ's sake, Walter...
Walter Sobchak: You're entering a world of pain, son. We know that this is your homework. We know that you stole a car.
The Dude: And the fucking money.
Walter Sobchak: And the fucking money. And, we know that this is your homework.
The Dude: We're going to cut your dick off, Larry.
Walter Sobchak: You're killing your father, Larry!

A weird moment that i love is in Lost Highway, the scene when the lead character meets the mystery man at a party. Mystery Man: We've met before, haven't we.
Fred Madison: I don't think so. Where was it you think we met?
Mystery Man: At your house. Don't you remember?
Fred Madison: No. No, I don't. Are you sure?
Mystery Man: Of course. As a matter of fact, I'm there right now.
Fred Madison: What do you mean? You're where right now?
Mystery Man: At your house.
Fred Madison: That's fucking crazy, man.
Mystery Man: Call me. Dial your number. Go ahead.
