2006 releases, ranked.
Thumbs Up albums.

Awesome. Thanks for creating a copy of your list that's all 2006 and in order from best to worst! It's really going to help me go back and choose CDs from this year that I've missed! What are your criteria for counting a 2006 release? Is it the United States release date?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm using the U.S. release date, although honestly, I didn't think about it much. It was more about separating what clearly wasn't 2006 (like Rogue Wave or CocoRosie) from everything else. (Did the Editors and Wolfmother albums come out last year in their respective countries? I wouldn't doubt it.)
I'm pretty sure the Wolfmother one is this year worldwide. The Editors was released last year overseas. I only know this because Rhapsody has it as a 2005 release date. Not that it matters either way since it is your list and, therefore, your criteria but I just thought I'd bring that up.
Ah, didn't know that about the Wolfmother! Think I got confused because I've had (what I'm now guessing is) the demo version of "Woman" for quite awhile now, so I figured the U.S. was just getting it.
The Foo Fighters? Really? I liked Grohl's first FF album, but nothing since.
I'm really the last person to like a Foo Fighters album -- I mean, I don't hate them, and they have songs I like -- but I'm not a Foo Fighters album kind of guy, knawmean? But this was top notch -- but then, it was only 6 songs, so it didn't get diluted with a lot of filler.
P.S. Didja get that email Martin sent ya?
Yup. Signed up already, too.
I'm with Scott, except I also dug "The Colour and the Shape." In Tris McCall's music poll last year, I mentioned 'Best of You' as one of my favorite singles and described it as the first great song they'd written since the overwhelming success of 'Everlong' turned them into a ballad band. Oh well, what the hell -- we'll always have the FF cover of 'Down in the Park'...
Also: I haven't heard a Sonic Youth album in years (I believe the last one I listened to was "Dirty," or maybe "Experimental Jet Set" if that actually counts as an album), but holy shit this "Rather Ripped" thing is good. Is this what I've been missing?
Did you get that email Martin sent ya?
Ooops, scratch that. I got proof you did :-)
Ayup! :-)
Did you get the leaked copy of Yo La Tengo's new one? Because I'm pretty sure it's only a demo. I've heard that all the tracks fade-out partway through.
Yeah, mine's got the fade-out going on (it's only on the short songs, I believe), and I was wondering what was up with that. Probably shouldn't give it a rating if it's just a demo. I suspect that people who like YLT will like this one.
