I found Don Quixote qutie tedious and Catch-22 was a litle disappointing. I've not read any of the others.
I'm currently reading Homicide: A Year on the Killng Streets by David Simon. It is the story of a reporter's true-life attachment to the Homicide unit of Baltimore poice department, on which the TV series was based. It almost reads like a novel including the detectives' dialogue.
