Out of curiosity, how come you're so focussed on when things came out? The only time I personally would think to note it, is if there's a movie title that was used more than once and you wanted to distinguish, or something of that sort. I never worry about it with music though. (Except when Seal did two self-titled albums).

Not a criticism, just a curiousity.

Kristin, well the easy explanation is that I am certifiable...cuckoo...nutzo...off my bean! Although this is true I also like to know an approximate year when I first heard a song or at least understand how that song fits into the history of popular music. And if, as I hope they will someday, each one of my yearly song lists had 100 or so songs on it, if I put them all on one list a 20 year list would have 2000 items. That approach wouldn't work very well for me though.. most of the cds i've been buying lately are of music recorded before i was born :)
