Author Comments:

what a great idea for a list. thank you, Amie.

and curse you, Wes Anderson, for your brilliant films that take so many good songs.

Geez, this is so cool. I thought I was the only one who, on a daily basis, was compiling a soundtrack to his 3/4-done, not-yet-published, future National Book Award winning novel...

I'll have to post mine as well soon!

To be fair, Amie's was the first. And I suspect that unlike mine, her novel is actually taking shape...

Hats off to Amie for the origin to this list. Don't sweat the novel; my has been part of a love/hate relationship for the past 6 years, but I think I've reconsiled with it a lot lately.

if you go to cat and girl's webpage, there's a link to a novel-writing project. they want a lot of people to put 50,000 words together just so they can call themselves novelists. sounds like a lot of fun, but I dunna have the time this month.

Yeah, it's taking the shape of a tumbleweed of dust in a box by my computer. I've put it on the back burner for now while I finish other things, but thanks for the vote of confidence!

Your dialogue is interesting. Is it your own or are they quotes? Can you give any hints as to what your unwritten novel is about? I'm also a big Wes Anderson fan. Which songs included have been in the soundtracks of his movies?

well, none of these were orignally Anderson picks. But I almost certainly would have included "Here Comes My Baby", "Oh Yoko!", or "Alone Again Or".

yeah, I just invented some dialogue. maybe I'll put flesh to the frame soon. I've always wanted to write a faux-saga, a story with a slacker protagonist on some mock-mythic quest. gets kicked around, has a few wry thoughts, calls it a day.
