Mmmm... settling Guinness... *drool*

Also, mmmmmm... curry... *drool*

Please explain. I've never had the pleasure of settling a Guiness.

A Guinness needs to be poured in a very specific way. It has bubbles, much like lager, but the bubbles fall. The bartender is meant to pour the pint 2/3 full, then let the bubbles settle. Then they top it up, at which point it gets those gorgeous brown/gold bubbles all riled up again. Cue me, taking my perfect pint back to my table, then watching it as the bubbles fall and the drink transforms into the black beauty we all know and love. Ah, the anticipation.

Here's a picture of a partially-filled pint of Guinness with bubbles, along with an explanation of why they appear to fall instead of rise.

Thanks for the description. Sounds luscious!
