Well, these two are probably highest on my "to see" list: Kontroll (trailer, Filmbrain review), Oldboy (trailer, Filmbrain).

Murderball sounds great, although I know nothing about it except the documentary subject matter: "A film about paraplegics who play full-contact rugby in Mad Max-style wheelchairs - overcoming unimaginable obstacles to compete in the Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece.

I'm waiting to hear more about Izo, Survive Style 5, and Layer Cake before committing. As for the rest, haven't heard of most of them.

Have fun!

There's currently a film festival going on in my neighborhood, too, but I found out about it too late. The only ones playing that I've heard of are:

Kung Fu Hustle
5 x 2

If I had the time/money to attend, though, I'd be sure to look up the others to find those I was really interested to see.

Sorry, though, I have no recommendations on what you should see from the Philadelphia Film Festival, except that I've heard good things about 5x2, Kontroll, Layer Cake, and Palindromes.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately, I just really don't have time to do enough research into all these films, so thanks for the suggestions of what the standouts might be. Kontroll, Survive Style 5+, Layer Cake, Palindromes, and Oldboy definitely sound pretty cool. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see a good handful of these.

The ones that jump out for me (with off the top of my head comments) are The Big Red One (Sam Fuller reconstructed), Clean (New Oliver Assayas Film), A Clockwork Orange, Cutie Honey (Live Action Remake of Anime Classic), The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, House of D (Directed by David Duchovny), Kontroll (Very well received Dutch film), Layer Cake (Directed by Matthew Vaughn (?) producer of Lock, Stock... and possible director of X-Men 3), Murderball (Documentary about wheelchair-bound rugby players), Oldboy (Incredo-movie), Palindromes (Todd Solondz new film), Survive Style 5+ (Korean exploitation?), Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession (Documentary about LA cable TV channel)

I think my comments are accurate unless I'm misremembering.
