John Saul often gets left out in the King and Koontz discussions. I suppose he isn't as popular though. I haven't read any of his books lately (the creeped-out factor again-- I was much braver when I was a kid, oddly), but my mom actually got me hooked on his books waaaaay back when I was 10 or so. She had a bunch of paperbacks stored in the huge old 8-track/record player/big ugly piece of furniture. Most of it was King, Koontz, and Saul. I took to John Saul even before I took to Stephen King, ironically. Would love to read the books I haven't, but I'm too chicken nowadays.
