How could you remember Jimmy Jazz but not Janie Jones?
Plus, you should add these:
Sylvia Plath- Ryan Adams
Roy Walker- Belle and Sebastien
Bill McCai- The Coral
Jennifer Juniper- Donovan
Eleanor Rigby- The Beatles
Rocky Racoon- The Beatles
Ruby Tuesday- The Rolling Stones
Mrs. Leroy Brown- Loretta Lynn

Ann Disaster- Ben Kweller
Billy Liar- The Decemberists
Leif Erikson- Interpol
Daisy Duke- Rooney
Ziggy Stardust- David Bowie
Johnny Appleseed- Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros
Does Me and Bobby McGee count? Maybe for your "Not Exactly" section?
Great idea for a list :)
How could you remember Jimmy Jazz but not Janie Jones?
Unfortunately, I did part of the list from memory and the rest by quickly scanning my iTunes playlist - on which I have "Jimmy Jazz" but not "Janie Jones".
Great suggestions! I honestly had no idea there were so many that fit (or nearly fit) the list.
How about:
Billy Hunt - The Jam
Johnny Carson - The Beach Boys
Maria Bartiromo - Joey Ramone
Tom Dooley - Kingston Trio
Miss Amanda Jones - Rolling Stones
Nathan Jones - The Supremes
Sarah Jackman - Allan Sherman
Sally Simpson - The Who
Jean Arthur - Robbie Fulks
Tom Joad - Woody Guthrie
Thank you for your input! I'm embarrassed I forgot "Miss Amanda Jones", but most of your list was unknown to me.
I cannot believe that everyone has overlooked the output of Bob Dylan - he could have a list of his own:
Tom Thumb
Hattie Carroll
Davey Moore
John Birch
Blind Willie McTell
Bessie Smith
Black Jack Davey
Jim Jones
Arthur McBride
Woody Guthrie
Bob Dylan
John Wesley Harding
Frankie Lee
Judas Priest
... and I'll bet there's more ...
Dylan certainly is the king of this topic. His omission from my list is strictly because I don't count myself a huge fan of his work, but I appreciate the input!
_Nice list, here's a couple others:
Duane Joseph - Juliana Theory
Johnny Butt - Sublime
Brad Logan - Rancid
Buddy Holly - Weezer
Chris Cayton - Goldfinger
Man, I can't believe I forgot Buddy Holly! Great suggestions.
Craig Cardiff, "Judy Garland"
Cake, "Frank Sinatra"
Miss Kittin & the Hacker, "Frank Sinatra"
Great Big Sea, "Mari Mac"
Outkast, "Rosa Parks"
Off the top of my head, there's also
Dorothy Parker - Prince
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Ben - Michael Jackson
Georgia Bo - David Garza
(The Prime of) Kenny Silvers - Generation X
but I'll have to check my iTunes when I get home.
Just found this list and thought I would add a few Dylan Songs
Yazoo Street Scandal - Who Killed Davey Moore - Visions of Johanna - Under the Red Sky - Up On Cripple Creek - Tiny Montgomery - This Wheels on Fire - The Wicked Messenger - Death of Emmett Till - The Ballad of Frankie Lee and judas Priest - Temporary Like Achilles - Talkin John Birch Paranoid Blues - Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues - Spanish Harlem Incident - Song To Woody - Romance in Durango - Quinn the Eskimo - Queen Jane Aproximately - Please Mrs. Henry - Percy's Song - Oxford Town - Nashville Skyline Blues - Maggie's Farm - Love Henry - Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts - Lenny Bruce - Kingsport Town - In Search of Little Sadie - If You Ever Go To Houston - I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine - Goin to Acapulco - Gates of Eden - From a Buick 6 - Farewell Angelina - Diamond Joe - Caribbean Wind - Brownsville Girl - Apple Sucking Tree - Absolutely Sweet Marie.
