My own favorites (I haven't seen a lot) are preceded by three ***s.

If I have omitted your favorite, let me know and I'll probably add it to the list.

Do you mean "Movie Musicals" or "Musical Movies"? I didn't think of Amadeus, The Buddy Holly Story, The Glenn Miller Story etc as musicals, much as I enjoyed them.

This quibble has nothing to do with my petulance at the exclusion of Porgy and Bess, West Side Story, my personal pet High Society, personal favorite Little Shop of Horrors and South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut.

I guess I mean movies in which music is featured instead of just being there to enhance the story and visuals.

West Side Story was always on the list. I'll certainly look at including the others you've mentioned.

I don't want to appear too expert on musicals because, as everyone knows, such expertise is a sign of gayness (not that there's anything wrong with that) and increases to a certainty if you particularly like Judy Garland...but I'm okay 'cos I've never heard of her :-D

Serves me right for being petulant. Since you bring up this Garland woman I've remembered For Me and My Gal thank you for that.

Oh my goodness I saw this list and immediately searched to see if you included Fame. I was sad to see it absent.
I also happened to see an article about The Apple in Entertainment Weekly. I was surprised anyone remembered that movie. I think it only had one screening in my city and was pulled. I was actually one of few people who saw it.

Spank you very much for reminding me of Fame.

Apple? Who Apple...what Apple? I don't know from Apple. I'll bite, what is it?

If you get the Fall Movie Preview Issue of Entertainment Weekly you can get more of a low down. Here is the summary from IMDb :
"Alphie and Bibi, two sweet, naive youths from Moose Jaw, Canada, have come to America to compete in the 1994 Worldvision Song Festival. Although the pair have talent, they are beaten out by the underhanded tactics of the festival favorites, another duo with the backing of BIM: Boogalow International Music, and its leader, Mr. Boogalow. Though crestfallen by their loss, Bibi and Alphie are soon delighted to hear the Mr. Boogalow has taken an interest in their music and wants to sign them to his label. All is looking up for the two until they begin to discover the dark underside of the rock and roll world."

Hmmm...not a High Concept movie, then.

Moulin Rouge?

Heck, Jim, yeah! - and Chicago! How did I...etc.

Thanks.
