Author Comments:

Yes, someone actually directs these movies!

Name the director based on a selection of his or her mediocre, mainstream, or possibly even abysmal films. No cheating please - and yes, using the IMDB to look up the director is pretty blatantly cheating. If, however, you would like a brief description of one or more of these films to possibly give you a hint, I would be happy to provide one for you, courtesy of the IMDB.

Somehow I had a feeling you'd get a lot of these... :-)

But I am still amazed. Wow, you got all of these right except #21 and #25 (and for 21, I'm sure you're thinking of the right person, but the name's a little off). That is some impressive directorial knowledge, my friend.

As for James Toback, his name actually does sound familiar to me, but God only knows what for. He's never directed a film I've seen or considered seeing.

And as for Roger Donaldson, perhaps you saw The 6th Day and thought of Thirteen Days, which Donaldson did direct.

You're right, wrong Roger. I do believe it's actually Roger Spottiswoode.

Toback's best known as a director for the Harvey Keitel film "Fingers" and the Downey Jr. vehicle "The Pick-Up Artist". His bright shining moment, though, was writing "Bugsy".

And I had a feeling the name for #21 wasn't quite right -- I know the guy mainly as a character actor. *checks IMDb* Damn. I was close. :-)

It is Spottiswoode. Another one for you!

Hmm. I've still never heard of those films he directed, and both have less than 1000 votes on IMDB. Maybe I did hear of him from Bugsy.

I hate to be hoggin' all the fun, but I just remembered #11 and #26, which were bugging me: Peter Chelsom and Roger Kimble, respectively.

Indeed! Two more for you!

(Actually, his name is actually Roger Kumble according to the IMDB, but I'm not gonna be that anal)

And another one I had stuck in the back of my head... #38 is Troy Miller. Sad to think that he also directed a couple of episodes of "Mr. Show"...

As well as "Greg the Bunny" and "Real World: Los Angeles." Yikes...

You continue to astound me. You've answered 60% of the questions by now.

Only 3:

6) Howard Deutch
14) Dennie Gordon
27) Jessie Nelson

Well done, 1922!

Rob Bowman has been famous with me ever since Star Trek: The Next Generation.

shit i know 3 of this, 26 is Roger Kimble, and the other 2 are in the tip of my tongue.

Ah, sorry, Cosgrove beat you by a few minutes. Let me know if you think of those other two, though.

I don't know 28, but Tim Allen must have embarrasing naked pictures of him/her

Heh heh heh.

21. Vondie Curtis-Hall

EDIT: tryin' to pick up Cosgrove's sloppy seconds...

Indeed! One for you!

12 Brian Levant

Correct!

8. Donald Petrie
15. Peter Hewitt
23. Christopher Cain
28. John Pasquin
39. Gil Junger

All five right. Great job!

wow... this is impressive, or depressive, depending how you look at it, that you guys know alol these horrid directors by their movies, I would only have known Dugan and Needham, the only two btw whose movies don't suck or isn't a complete unknown(very few, most are just terrible)... but kudos to all of you either way.
