Author Comments:

In a rather vague order. I've tried to make it as accurate as possible, based on the past three years, so bear in mind that just because I adored the Bay City Rollers' "I Only Wanna Be With You" three years ago doesn't mean I do now. (Though I actually do still like that. Hmm.) Actually, the top 100 and the bottom 100 are the songs I like most right now, for the most part: the all-time favourites, and the songs that are slowly climbing their way up the chart having been favourites of recent months.

And, er, yes, I do have a very unusual taste.. :) But I defy you to find another "greatest songs" list with The Fall, Val Doonican and They Might Be Giants.

Additions in bold. Additions last update in italics.

Requirements of the list:
-Known for more than 2 months
-In my personal top 5 for more than 1 month within past 3 years
-I still somewhat enjoy it as of now

Artists with 3 songs or more in the list:

REM - 26
They Might Be Giants - 21
Queen - 12
U2 - 10
The Beach Boys - 10
Phil Collins - 9
Abba - 8

Bruce Springsteen - 5
Tom Petty - 4
ELO - 4
Roger Whittaker - 3
The Police - 3

Slade - 3
The Bee Gees - 3
Tony Christie - 3
John Travolta - 3 (inc. 2 with Olivia Newton-John)
Olivia Newton-John - 3 (inc. 2 with John Travolta)

Most of your choices I like, particularly the ones where my favourite artists crop up, though I have to say I'm not a fan of Queen's Las Palabras De Amor. More like Las Palabras De A-Bore! Oh, I'm ever so witty!

Ahh, ain't ya just ;)

I really like Las Palabras though. Among Queen's most underrated I've always thought.. and of course your post proves that I suppose :) Not their best, mind... that honour belongs with Don't Stop Me Now.

Does anyone else know Sha-Na-Na's Those Magic Changes?

I have never heard that song before...

Hehe, excellent! I'm not alone then. :)

Do you happen to like it?

I certainly happen to like it... but no more and no less than that. It makes me sad because it reminds me of how much I used to love Billy Joel.

Cool list, because there is a lot of REM and a lot of Billy Joel (7 songs). Also glad to see Moonlight Shadow up there. Great song.

Thanks for the comment! Glad you like it. Billy Joel is great, an often underrated artist.

(oh, and well done for noticing there are 7 Billy songs, not 6, fixed now).

Great list, Wezzo! I think you have quite an eclectic taste in music. :)

I think so too, heh! Thanks. :D (Sorry that the Gibbs only show up twice! Massachusetts is on its way to this list though..)

Hey, I'm glad that the Gibbs show up at all. I think most 15-year-olds wouldn't like the Bee Gees; some of them probably don't even know who they are!

Good news about Massachusetts...that was their first number one...October 1967, I think. What do you think of "I Started a Joke", by the way? I really like Robin's voice, so that's one of my favourite Bee Gees songs.

Did you like the Bee Gees when Maurice died? I'd been a fan for almost two years then (I started liking them in April 2001 when I was 12) and was very upset when that happened.

True, true - then again, not many 15-year-olds are a fan of '50s crooner Val Donnican. :D

Yep, I also like "I Started A Joke" - in fact, of those I know, there are very few songs of theirs that I actively dislike at all; it's just that I probably haven't listened to them all enough to put them on this list (except for the two on here and soon Massachusetts). Actually, How Deep Is Your Love? could go on here too..

Yeah, I've known a lot of their songs since I was probably 6 or 7 as my mum used to play them in the car; and I'd imagine I started liking You Win Again a lot around 2001. I remember hearing the news Maurice had died, and I definitely knew some of their songs by then as I was quite shocked.
