Cloned From:

My mother wants "Simple Gifts" to be played at her funeral. I view my funeral as a chance to force family and friends to listen to Ellington for a half hour.

Which reminds me of the (apocraphyl) story of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers passing a funeral...

As was the custom, the band pulled over to get out and show respect to the deceased and his family. At a certain point towards the end of the ceremony, the minister said, “does anyone else have any words to say about Old Joe?” at which point Blakey, hat in hand, spoke up, saying, “well, now I didn’t know Old Joe, but from what I’m hearing today, he sounds like he was a very good man – beloved by his wife and family and respected by his friends. I’m sure he will be missed. And now, since I have your attention, I’d like to say a few words about Jazz . . .”
Louis Armstrong- What a Wonderful World

LOL. Maybe I should force my family to listen to Social D, Black Flag, and Circle Jerks. They'd love it.

"Lighter Shade of Pale- Harem Procol"

- Do you mean A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum?

Brainfast on that one. Thanks

Brainfart....geez.
