i'm still working on it... so don't worry if i'm missing some really great ones

Have you seen the video for I believe I can fly? It's hysterical.

yes! i've only seen it once and i can't really remember most of it... all i remember is the different random people lipsinching along, which was really cool and funny

i don't know what happened to the list, but there used to be a list on here with 200 or 300 best covers on it. can't find it now. it included some of yours.

You're probably referring to stumpy's list. Stumpy used to be a member here, but he recently deleted all his content, leaving this cryptic message on his profile:

stumpy finally retired on 11-23-03. After 6,281 lines of text, 25,788 characters, and 20,759 "reads". Mr. Jim sold us out.

Sorry, guess you won't be finding that list around here anymore unless stumpy changes his mind.

Ah well, can't please everybody. I'm amused by the "sold us out" line though. Listology has been a money-losing proposition from day one, and I certainly haven't made any deals recently (or ever, for that matter (somebody make me an offer! :-)) that have slowed the stream of red ink. I'm a sell-out with no money to show for it! How's that for pathetic? :-)

i didn't know for sure which reply to attach this to, and i really don't know what you're talking about jim, but stump must have had a major presence at one time or another.

i looked up "best cover songs" on google and his listology list was number one. if you click on the "cached" link it takes you to a copy of his old list.

Wow, I can't believe Listology was the #1 link for anything on Google, forget about being number one for such a common (I assume) search term as "best cover songs"! Nifty, albeit temporary. Well, at least it's in Google's cache for now. Grab your copy while it's hot!

perhaps i have a clue for you, mr. jim. i was surfing google last night with stumpy's name and came up with these (all cached)

1. "best songs all time" - #1 on google page 1
2. "stumpy worst" - #1,2,3,4,5 on google page 1
3. "stumpy best" - 3rd and 4th on google page 1
4. "stumpy quotes" - 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th on google page 1

and the listology owner doesn't even have a clue!! i guess this site ain't about popularity, that's for sure. i'll leave this topic alone now.

Funny... the post above by DrJimmy never made it to the Recent Activity page. Has the rath of the listology moderator been witnessed? Let's stop talking about who left and start gaining wisdom from the newcomers. hehe

Rather than keep going off-topic here, I'm about to answer both posts above over here. Thanks for hosting all this extra-curricular discussion though, but_imacreep! :-)

Yeah, the sell-out line is baffling. He originally left by preventing posts on all his content and putting a message on his profile about how Listology has been overrun by younger people who can't spell or capitalize correctly, or something to that effect. I'm not sure why this got to him so much, but even more baffling, I'm not sure why he altered it to imply that it was your fault, Jim. Just know that you have my vote of approval and gratitude for how you've been maintaing the site, and I think the vast majority of Listologists would agree with me.

incorrect spelling and capitolization? why that's perposterous!! i've gotta say tho - by the looks of his list he (are you sure of the sex?) looked a little overqualified for what i'm looking at right now. i guess i'm one to talk! this is a kool site tho.

Yeah, he knew a lot about classic rock music. It's a shame he got so annoyed by these little things.

:-) Glad you like the site!

I agree he needed to relax a little. The fact that he blames jim for a pet peeve is just sad.If he had a problem with me or anyone else he should of addressed us. That would of been the grown up thing to do.

But I wish him luck.

anybody remember what this list was about?? sorry but_imacreep..... very funny. ha ha

hehehe... this discussion is becoming so irrelevant to the topic. actually, i didn't know stumpy made a song cover list, to be honest with you. i just decided to make one by myself.

I'll just pop in to show my support for Jim. You go Jim, I really appreciate your afforts with this site. It's really my homebase site.
