a compliment to my Overall grand list of my favorite films... easier to navigate and better to compare movies by... i will update both as i see em.

btw, the ratings are out of 100 and to see an overall order go to "My favorite... Films... a work in progress" list.

Cool list. But I have to ask--Topaz?! All I remember from that movie is the one really striking part with he woman in the purple dress, where she sort of sinks slowly down after being shot. Beyond that, it's just all incomprehensible plot and everything is this faded brown color.

well i liked it... a little anyway... it is only rated a 66... and it's only second out of 3 movies i've seen from 1969.

Fair enough. But if you want to see some better films from 1969, you should try Butch Cassiday and the Sundance Kid, Midnight Cowboy, and Take the Money and Run.

i agree... the movies i see are usually ones i just catch on TV... there is a reason take the money and run is 22 points higher and i'm anxious to see those other two.. thanks for the recomendation.

Your welcome. Sorry, I somehow missed seeing that you already had Take the Money and Run. Do you have any general guidelines for your 100 point rating system?

Not really... i have recently adopted the very loose idea that...
90's= masterpieces
80's= great
70's= good
60's= above average
and average movies and below i don't bother rating at all.

the actual number in that case is just to decipher the order among the masterpieces, the greats, the goods and so on, and how close they are to the other tiers.

I'm glad you think so highly of Hero. Did you see it recently? Have you seen any other Zhang Yimou movies?

no i haven't... and yes i saw it last night... beautiful film... i just wish they could have left out the flying, floating, and walking on water.

when did you see garden state? i can't remeber it being no your recently seen list?

i don't think i have a recently seen list... but my sister got the dvd for christmas i think... so shortly after... if you mean my to see list it was never on there because i had no urge to see it until it was free and right in front of me.

lol so you didn't have high expectations?

no i didn't... i was pleasantly surprised... which is the best way to be surprised... can't wait for a sophomore effort from braff.

sort of the same story with the pallbearer... i never intended to see it... but it came on showtime and i remembered you ranting about how good it was and there was nothing else on so i watched it and was surprised.

man glad too hear you saw Pallbearer because of me. i managed to sway the minds of you and jim! its a really amazing movie, a movie strong in characters and heart. i recommend it too anyone

the Pallbearer is also one of my favorites.
More people should see this, as it is readily available.

Now that I have seen it, I definetly agree about Million Dollar Baby. Brilliant!

I like Kasdan and all, but Dreamcatcher a great film come on-that thing sucked

not a great film... but very good in my opinion.
