  • 7. Checkmate: Thought this was going to be acold war spy thriller centered around chess, turned out to be a moody drama about international chess players who can't deal with their own insecurities
  • 8. Camelot: Arthur hardly seems like a celtic warlord in the Dark Ages who fought of invading Saxons. Lancelot Is full of himself, and I've had it up to here (my chin) with the love triangle. The lack of one in King Arthur (2004) was a blessing. Drags on after the first half.

Yeah, I don't get Cats or Phantom of the Opera either. (oops, I recommeded a few of these in your other musical list...would take them off if it wasn't over the limit.)

I think Cats is just plain awful: a plot is required for a good musical, otherwise what you have is a concert made up of showtunes. And Phantom is so uncatchy and pointlessly melodramatic, it's like Evanescence: The Musical (sorry if you're a fan of Evanescence, that's just why I don't like Phantom).

I am not a fan of Evanesence. Webber's stuff is highly melodramatic. Too much sometimes. The only one of his musicals I really love is Les Miserables. Now if someone said they were gonna make the musical Les Mis into a movie, I would be thrilled.
