go jenhowel!!! you're definitely a listDIVA. :)

"'I have no recollection of those events', that's a phrase you are going to have to learn..."

Is that from "Primary Colors"?

no, but it is involving politics...from the CIA

Clear and Present Danger?

yep yep; very nice; that slimy guy (he plays the same role in "Mission: Impossible". I also like his ending line "Great! The world's great, Jack!"

He's perfect for those roles. His voice just adds to his slime factor.

I looked him up on IMDb. His name's Henry Czerny. I don't think I've seen anything else that he's done. I was a bit surprised by the amount of work that he's done. Probably lots of bit parts.

btw, I have confirmed this answer...somebody needs credit up top!

#35 Robin Hood Prince of Thieves?

Why a spoon cousin? It's dull, it'll hurt more you twit. You are very right!

"Was it a dream where you were where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid, with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?"

I think I know this one..."Real Genius"?

Yep, that's it. Rather an attention-getting one, don't you think?

Okay, if #24 isn't Adam Sandler, is it John Belushi in NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE ?

nope! try again... (see hint below.)

Is #17 Out of Sight?

No, but you obviously know your actors!

since no one seems to be making progress on those i suggested, here are some hints: 20 takes place in a foreign country, the name of whose language is in the title; 21 is from a rock-n-roll cult classic, whose title includes the name of quoted character; and 24 involves a futuristic microwave and a model/singer turned actress. hope that helps some!

Could 20 be "Moon Over Parador"? I know it's not a real country, but the line sounds like it could be from that movie.

nope. keep trying...

Based on your clue alone, is number 20 French Twist?

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

no but your *really* close!

Ah gee... It's French Kiss, isn't it?

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

there you go! right on.

21 is Sid and Nancy, I just watched it for the first time the other day, and I'm like, Whoah! That's on the Listology! A cool movie too.

yep. glad someone got it--i didn't think it was *that* obscure... ;)

LOL...#1 = DEAD-ALIVE...LOL. Yes, after you reminded me of it at your "Aussie/NZ movies kick ass" list, I eventually got around to seeing it again. Obviously, the dialogue wasn't what impressed me about it.

Right-o! Sorry it took me so long to get back on track with this list. Haven't had a lot of down-time on the net lately.

#10 bill and ted's excellent adventure....ziggy piggy ziggy piggy

Yes, finally!!!!! Are my friends the only Bill and Ted's afficianados?

How about "Hey, dawg....did you see the size of that chicken???"

Hey! #32 is Die Hard, yes?

#33, Big Blue?

yes!

now it makes sense, sebreg. i checked on your "vent your anger because you wasted 2 hours watching a horrible movie here" list. i thought i'd remembered seeing the big blue somewhere. i guess it was bad enough that you remembered it. i just added it cause it's a quote from enzo (jean reno, sp?) and i love his character in that movie for some odd reason.

You know what, that's the only thing I liked about that movie, Jean Reno. It was a great role and he gave a wonderful performance.

in big blue, rosanna arquette=yuck

You know what, Jean Reno's character was the only positive in that movie. He gave a wonderful performance.

sorry about repeating myself i thought i had been able to stop one of the submissions but i obviously failed

#17 would be BOOGIE NIGHT Jennifer.

YAY! Finally someone guessed it!

38 - Is this Passion Fish, where the different actress are talking to each other? The one actress repeats this line 4 or 5 different ways, if I recall. I know I've heard this before.

40 - Better Off Dead

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Yes, and YES! I love that anal probe scene.

#42 is Grease, right? Or is that too obvious?

I got one! Finally! #41 is Ghostbusters, said by Bill Murray.

39 is L.A. Confidential

nope. Unless he said it in that movie too. Keep trying!

OK, random guessing, but I can definitely see #39 coming from American Beauty (presumably to wife and her lover).

no, no no.... In fact I doubt anyone's going to capture this one through random guessing. You'll just watch the movie one day, and there it'll be, smack in your face, much like taryn's "Sid and Nancy" quote caught me.

Is it Henry and June?

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Ooops, just scanned your old list and realized this quote has already been guessed. At least I was right!

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

How about "Well, what if there is no tomorrow?"

"There wasn't one today!" (Groundhog Day)

I knew I should have picked a different line. At kleast I didn't add the second phrase myself. 2 hours! But such a great movie . . .

Yup, wonderful movie. I've seen it many times. I don't know if you could have picked a line that I wouldn't have caught.

#44 is from Half Baked (a great line, by the way, and a great way to quit your job).

How about "Put...the candle...back!" Spoken in a pain-filled voice. Hint: it's from the same movie as #52 :-D

Hint on #46: the line is spoken by Nicolas Cage.

Is #46 from The Rock? Just guessing.
And I think #51 is from Detroit Rock City.

Good guess, buddy. THE ROCK it is. A hard one [get it?], and you got it.

#49 sounds an awful lot like Jay (of Jay and Silent Bob) but I'm not sure which film it would be from.

You're as hot as an iron, my friend!

"You're as hot as an iron, my friend!"

That's gotta be from "Devil's Advocate" or "Little Nicky."

Sean

Hmm, my parenthetical BFG didn't show up in that last post. Okay, how about ;-)

Or (grin)

or (wink wink, nudge nudge)

or ...

48 and 51 would be "Almost Famous".

The one from this movie that my wife and I always use: "Your mom kind of freaked me out, man."

OK,
- B

#49 is from "clerks" it's the scene where silent bob gives his prophetic advice to Dante.

Hey, taryn! Re.#24: I recently re-watched THE FIFTH ELEMENT in which the sacreligiously named Supreme Being says "Chicken...chicken good!"

51. "Rock stars have kidnapped my son!"

Almost Famous

Actually, isn't this one from Detroit Rock City?

54. "Wake up bitch, you're my new best friend!"

Matt Stone, Baseketball

53. "Follow me or perish, sweater-monkeys!"

Bring It On

52. "Blucher!"

Young Frankenstein

50. "You're about to enter a world of pain."

I really might be stretching it here, but "Cool as Ice" with Vanilla Ice?

Nope, but it's on your "list of films I just don't get."

49. "Time to kick back, drink some beers, and shmoke some weed!"

Clerks

48. "The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what two people say to each other when they're uncool."

Almost Famous (not fair, #51 was Almost Famous as well!)

47. "Oh cripes! Never have I seen such a serpent in a first class cabin!"

Total wags here, but either "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" or "Portrait of a Lady" LOL

If humor ruled the game, one of those would be correct. But they aren't. :-)

Rats, I almost thought "Loathing" was it.

46. "I drive a Volvo. A beige one." sub. by bertie

The Rock

45. "I love you too much - to condemn you."

Ahhh, Jen's favorite, Bram Stoker's Dracula

But also
STAR WARS: Song of the Crusader
by Lynne Freels

37. "Hey, dawg... did you see the size of that chicken???" sub. by buddy

Young Guns

27. "So you've come...dozens of you...like rats to a granary, like field mie when there's harvest home." sub. by Jim

Okay, so you've frustrated me on this one. The ORIGINAL quote comes from the Scottish Journal of Theology 51 # 4 (1998) pp. 406‑434

HELLFIRE AND DAMNATION:
FOUR ANCIENT AND MODERN VIEWS
by George Hunsinger

Amos went on.

'Aye, ye've come'. He laughed shortly and contemptuously' 'Dozens of ye. Hundreds of ye. Like rats to a granary. Like field mice when there's harvest home. And what good will it do ye?'

but I can't peg the movie. Working on it. "Breaking the Waves?" Nah.

Excellect! I didn't know there was an original! How close are you to guessing the movie?

Ah, I just found the reference. It turns out that journal was excerpting from the book that the movie is based on.

Argh...NOT close. Working on it!

27. "So you've come...dozens of you...like rats to a granary, like field mie when there's harvest home." sub. by Jim

WOOHOO, I think I have it here:

Six Degrees of Separation!

Sean

Sorry, while the quote may indeed appear in that movie (I haven't seen it), it's not the movie I'm thinking of!

Arghh, I was sure I had it.

Okay, this one is getting crazy. I'm going to make a list (in my Diatribes genre) called Rats and Mice. Check it out and tell me (HERE, not THERE) if the movie appears on the list. I've got two lists I'm starting from, so I'll post the first one now.

Sean

You know, if I posted the list, I'd be able to edit it, and people wouldn't be able to follow the thread.

Here I go:

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
X-Men
Apt Pupil
Gods and Monsters
Bent
Swept from the Sea
Restoration
The Shadow
Last Action Hero
Scandal
Walter and June
Priest of Love

Nope, not on the list. Let me know when you want a hint. This quote has stood for months, so I don't feel bad about hinting. Here's a non-hint of a hint . . . I know of two Listologists who have listed this movie, but they haven't chimed in to guess yet. I have to imagine it's because they haven't tried, because it's eminently guessable if you've seen the movie.

Well, if I don't get it soon, I think I want to know what decade the film is from. I'll try "Restoration" and "To Die For" (TDF is a long shot).

Hmm, disregard Restoration 'cause I already guessed that. Hmm, alright, gimme a decade.

The 90s.

I'd like to suggest a quote:

"No matter what time it is, 24 hours a day, you can find a Michael Caine or Gene Hackman movie playing on TV."

#51 is almost famous, Frances said that Jen. By the way, how are you doing?

is #46 Say Anything?

Is #46 maybe Being John Malkovich. I think its either that or Say Anything.

PCU - he's working on the Hackman/Caine theory.

Oh, jen, I wanna add another one, one of my all time favorites (I'm not adding it to my favorite movie quote list until someone gets it):

"Son, you got a panty on your head!"

Raising Arizona, the store clerk Nicholas Cage robs.

LOL, yeah! I love that part.

Sean

Oh, another:

"No. Just my watch, and my ring. And my kidney. That’s it."

50. "You're about to enter a world of pain."

The Big Lebowski!

47, Death On The Nile?

Bingo! And hopefully a little traffic on this list will entice Jen (the author) back for a visit.

I think she's scared of the A.M. bat people who answer quotes. :)

27, is that from The Stand?

47. Death on the Nile. Nn-ice.
