Movie Moments - Stand up and cheer!

  • Return of the King - When Sam confronts Shelob with the phial of Galadriel in defense of his Frodo.
  • I Capture the Castle When Yates starts climbing up the chain to commandeer the helicopter. I actually didn't particularly like this film, but that part was pretty exciting.
  • Napoleon Dynamite - When Napoleon does his thing on stage.
  • Aliens - "Get away from her, you bitch!"
  • Fellowship of the Ring - "You shall not pass!"
  • The Shawshank Redemption - Standing in the rain
  • Fellowship of the Ring - When Aragorn beheads the leader of the Uruk-hai. This is probably one of the only moments when I very nearly DID stand up and cheer in the theatre.
  • Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - When Michelle Yeoh fights Zhang Ziyi: "Get out and close the door." I think of it as, "Run along, the women have business to take care of."
  • The Matrix - "Dodge this."
  • The Princess Bride - After Inigo has been

Do I really need to spoiler that?
  • The Two Towers - The Ents get angry. (Apologies for so many Lord of the Rings moments. It's not my fault they contain so many cheer-worthy moments!)
  • Shine - When David sits down at the piano in the coffeeshop and plays a few random notes. Laughs ensue, followed shortly by Flight of the Bumblebee
  • Zatoichi - Near the beginning, a man tragically underestimates the old blind man.
  • To Kill a Mockingbird - "Jean-Louise, stand up. Your father's passing." Okay, this one may not make you want to stand up and cheer as much as close your fist and say "yes", but I think it goes here anyway.
  • The Descent - When

it looks like it's the end for two of the women, and the creature suddenly dies. Scan over behind said creature to reveal Juneau, looking as badass and beautiful as I've ever seen anyone look.

This list is pretty self-explanatory: moments that make you want to stand up and cheer. I plan to do a few more lists of this nature (moments that make you cry, most romantic, etc.), but it will have to wait at least a few more days because I am heading out of town to play the piano in my boyfriend's brother's wedding this weekend.

So, how did your boyfriend's brother's wedding go? I'm still waiting for the promised sequels to this beautiful list. There are so few 'movie moments' lists around here.. :-(
