You continue to bring a huge smile to my face, stooky.

A History of Narrative Film by David A. Cook is very good, ridiculously comprehensive (especially when going through the history of films in obscure filmmaking nations), and well-structured. I loved it. If I was making this list, I'd put it under 'Pop Goes the Weasel' under 'Extensive,' but to be honest I haven't read any of those so I couldn't compare!

Good to know, I'll order it through the library and eventually add it to the list.

Thanks!

:?)

Try Jonathan Rosenbaum's Essential Cinema. Really well-written, and it ends with a sort of "personal canon" listing of 1,000 movies that Rosenbaum likes.
