Most overrated movies I've seen

- Forrest Gump--TV Guide said it best when they called it a great phenomenon but not a great movie. One of the most cloying pieces of drivel I've ever seen in my entire life.
- Hero--There are probably several movies by this name, so I'll be more specific and say this is the Jet Li movie. Legions of critics adored this movie. Can't say I blame them. The movie's use of color was gorgeous. However the constant philosophizing and meaningless air dancing and shenanigans left this movie without a soul. Don't get me started on the "just piss me off already" ending. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is leagues above this.
- Sixth Sense--It's kinda like Forrest Gump in that it's more a phenomenon than a movie. It has the ability to draw you in. And then you realize that the movie only works because of its cheap path to the trick ending.
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind--The only movie on this list that I consider a great movie. Maybe an excellent movie. The characters are brilliant, and the interactions are well thought-out. But a five star masterpiece? Somehow this movie just seemed to possess a rather airy quality that didn't sit with me.

Wow. I love every single movie on this list.
Forrest Gump, Hero, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind all my make my top 100... :-P
I think I saw a really good phrase about movies somewhere. It goes "One man's Godfather is another man's Porky's". Or something to that effect. I had fun watching Sky Captain but was bored to tears by Hero. You're the other way around. C'est la vie.
