MEDIA: DVD: TV: TV Series That I'd Like To See Released on DVD

Try this:

Fawlty Towers.

I know where to find this DVD. I don't need your help in locating it.

Try this:

1. Go to Amazon.com.
2. Search DVD products for your favourites (top left box) e.g. "futurama".
You will be shown a list of Futurama DVDs available.
3. Click on the one you want
e.g. "Futurama vol.1 1999"

This will show you the Amazon price (discounted) that you can order online via the box on the top right "Add to shopping cart".

Each product will also have a customer rating and a list of reviews, so that you check out what other customers think of the poduct. However, beware some of the reviews because many people will only review the products they particularly like and they can sometimes be a little biased, but still very useful.

Additionally, under 'More Buying Choices' (top right) there are other buying options, such as alternative sellers and prices for new and used DVDs of the the same product. Each seller also has a rating so that you can assess their trustworthiness if you are unsure, although of course many new sellers (therefore with fewer ratings) can be equally as trustworthy. Other sellers (non-Amazon) sometimes offer at lower prices than Amazon, and with vey good ratings (sometimes in the thousands). Additionally, it is a condition for sellers on Amazon to agree to the Amazon terms, which includes fixed postal/shipping charges.

I often buy on Amazon, and often from alternative sellers. I usually try Amazon.com firstly for the product reviews (many more of them), then buy via Amazon.co.uk (as I am in England - different video and DVD coding).

Here are some other examples:

The complete Prisoner collection: Amazon price (including 10% discount) $134.96. There are (at the time of posting) 23 alternative offers 'used and new', including (amongst others):

- $94.94 "factory sealed", 5 star seller (186 ratings), or
- $98.85 "All our items are brand new", 4 star seller (81,221 ratings).

Twin Peaks - The First Season (Special Edition) (1990) : Amazon price (including 10% discount) $35.99. There are (at the time of posting) 32 alternative offers 'used and new', including:

- $23.95 "factory sealed", 5 star seller (186 ratings), same seller as Prisoner above, or:
- $24.67 "Brand new from distributor", 4 and a half star seller (331 ratings), or:
- $24.70 "new and sealed in original box", 5 star seller (170 ratings).

I searched on Amazon for some of the others but could not locate some of them (The Tick, Pinky and the Brain - neither of which I've heard - possibly never shown in the UK).

Professor, please quit posting this sort of information to my lists. I did not solicit this sort of information. I know how Amazon.com works. I don't need a tutorial from you on how it works.

I also know how to price DVDs, and I don't ever buy DVDs from Amazon.com. There prices are way too expensive. I can get them much cheaper through other outlets.

I just noted from your profile that you are already familiar with Amazon.com. Another source I use, particularly for books, less so for DVDs and CDs, is the eBay auctions. If you cannot find what you want on eBay (or the price is too high), then come back again a week later as it is certain to be relisted by others at sometime or other. There are always bargains to be had. I just did a search for "sopranos" and there are 494 listings. No DVDs for "Pinky Brain" though, but some Videos.

Professor, I know how eBay works. I've bought and sold at least 150 items on eBay.

I detect some tension between you and Professor. Would it be too presumptious of me to demonstrate how Half.com works?

Why do you want to demonstrate how Half.com works?

Nah, I just thought I'd add to the irkedness that seemed to be pervading the most recent posts in this forum.

By forum do you mean Listology in general or just this list?

Just this list. Nothing more, nothing less.
