Links to Amazing Art Websites

Tags:
  • Art History - This is an incredibly rich resource for anyone interesed in art, but particularly for anyone studying art history.
  • ArtLex Art Dictionary - Fully lives up to its title, in fact it goes well beyond what I would have imagined was pertinent. Includes a huge collection of links.
  • The State Hermitage Museum - St. Petersburg, Russia - Way to visit one of the world's greatest art museums without actually going there. Not only can you see 360 degree panoramas of the main rooms, but you can also see many of the exhibited objects in virtual 3D as an amazing computer program turns them before your eyes. (Powered by IBM.)
  • The Art Renewal Center - This has to be one of the most spectacular collections of kitsch art to be seen on the web. Well worth a vist, but it'll take forever to download if you have a slow connection.
  • The Great Buildings Collection - Architecture as art. Click on the "Buildings" link and a very long list of links to hundreds of the world's most famous buildings appears. Has search engines for buildings, architects and places.
  • The MUSEUM of BAD ART is the place to go for the art lover in a masochistic mood. Be sure to read the annotations.

Holy smokes... that "Art History" place is too extensive, I think.

It's almost scary, isn't it.

I urge you to visit the Hermitage Museum site. It's about the best of its kind I've seen.

Lol, "Views from the roof tops." Now that's going the extra mile. How long 'til I can plug into the Matrix and walk around in it?

Thank you so much for these links. I've spent hours perusing them for favorites.

You're welcome. But don't blame me if your broadband bill blows out :-D

Wow! I can't believe it's been 3 years since I first visited this list. I'll have to set some time aside in the weeks ahead to go through the links again. I did a quick check today - they're all still working.

I would advice you to read the site of Jon Stromberg. You will enjoy it for sure! I discovered it a few days ago on Google. He is a sales manager and posts abouts events all over the world - and even interesting art ones!
