These women rock... not like Sarah McLachlan, not like Britney Spears or the Spice Girls. These women rock out in bands with men, where they are their equals (or in some cases, their betters). These women take over the stage and tear down any female stereotypes that might exist. These are the women who really hold their own. Like the title says, it's a man's world... and these women don't just rock out in it, they take it over.

I'm not sure Meg White qualifies as a drummer. I like the White Stripes but after about three songs, her single stick, plodding, "minimalist" approach starts to drive me insane.

Chrissie Hynde rules. Out of everyone, she's probably the one I'd want a chance to jam with the most.

PS - Not sure about Hole being an all female band. Certainly not in the studio.

Meg White is indeed an average drummer, seeing as how she is female though she gets more press than should me thinks, but that's just me.

Kathleen Hannah is the best.

I vote for Cat Power in the first category. She's a great female solo-er.
