OK, I think I know a couple of these, but for now only a guess that number five is Metropolis.

#5 Just Imagine
#6 Peeping Tom
#7 Bad Seed
#14 It's a Wonderful Life
#15 The Adventures of Robin Hood

#5 is incorrect, just correctly guessed by imposter (Metropolis). Others are correct!

I've never seen Just Imagine. imdb.com ratings don't think too highly of it. How was it?

Never seen it. But I have seen, in several books about sf movies, a cityscape from it which is apparently very similar to the one from Metropolis.

ah, neato. Probably Metropolis-influenced, obviously, since it came only a few years later and was one of the VERY few feature-length sci-fi films up to that point.

Are all these movies in black and white, or just the pictures? The reason I ask is that I was almost positive that #15 was from The Adventures of Robin Hood, but that movie's in color. Have I mislabelled the movie?

#4 is definitely The Gold Rush, and #16 is Rashomon, I believe. And here's a wild guess for a film I haven't seen: #9 - The Invisible Man?

Lol, that is strange, I hadn't noticed that. I didn't purposely desaturate any pictures - I just grabbed them as I found ones I liked that were representative of the movie I was looking for. Sorry about the confusion. In any case, #15 was correctly guessed seconds before you got to it :-)

I know for sure at least one of the images here is a B&W image from a B&W section of a movie that is B&W and color (like Wizard of Oz).

Oh, and BTW, none of these are shorts. I'll never do shorts again on these types of games unless otherwise noted.

#3 is "Knife in the Water", and #11 is "A Streetcar Named Desire". And if I had to guess, I'd say #18 is "The Elephant Man".

Nice pics.

1. That looks like Claude Rains and Robert Montgomery. Here Comes Mr. Jordan?
11. A Streetcar Named Desire
18. The Elephant Man
The last one is very familiar, and it's gonna bug me until I either get it or see the answer.

lol, Cosgrove beat you to 11 and 18 by ONE FRICKING MINUTE!

And wow, you really know your oldie actors. I know sooooo few of those older actors by face (probably fewer than 30 actors/actresses working before 1950).

Lol, this game looks like fun - I wanna play! Somebody else make their own copy of this game so I can play! :-)

Where did you get the screenshots from?

a million different sources. Google, if you will.

I just may have to take you up on that!

more power to you! Here's my process:

1. Find good image online.
2. Copy/paste into ImageAnalzyer.
3. Ctrl+R to resize, enter 200 for width, ENTER.
4. Ctrl+S to save to desktop, name file innocuously, ENTER.
6. Upload image to imageshack.us
7. Copy and paste image location to Listology list
8. Repeat.

Just in case you're wondering. For my 'poster' one the process was slighty longer, and required some quick Photoshop work.

This is a total shot in the dark, but is #2 a movie directed by Orson Welles?

nope. I do intend to give a hint on that one eventually if no one gets it because it's a pretty tough one.

#17 The Birds
#19 Intolerance

good work

Is #12 "The Adventures of Prince Achmed"?

nice!

Thanks! I caught part of it on TCM a year ago--so visually distinctive that it was hard to forget.

I'm going to take wild, wild stabs at #8 and #20:

#8: Les Misérables

#20: Children of the Damned

nope, sorry!

you getting these off of google search?

most of 'em, yeah, one way or another

Okay, hints (only if you need them):

#2 was the debut film of a director with a tentpole release next year.

#8 is a John Ford film.

#10 was based on a play.

#13 is a black comedy.

#20 - the triangle hurts.

I thought the guy in #8 was familiar. The Informer?

yes!

Wow... I can't believe I didn't get that before... #20 is "Memento"!

sure thing!

i have to ask, look ive been trying to create one of these games but how do i change the "http://" so its a legal link? because all of the pics / sounds and other media i get has the name of it in the title in it!! i need help! ty

I actually copy all of the images to an image editor first and then upload it to ImageShack or TinyPic, so I can make it just as I want.

For you, I think the best solution would be to enter the URL here, click 'Host Picture', then use the new URL they give you (it will just be a series of random numbers), for each picture.

If you want to use sounds, that's a little trickier. I don't know of any free sound hosts. For my soundbytes, I just uploaded them to the space my ISP provided.

If you need any more help, let me know. I look forward to seeing your games!!!!!!

BTW, TinyPic will only accept images up to 250k. For larger images, you'll have to save the image to your disc, then upload it to ImageShack (which supports up to 1024k).

thanks! thats cool, ty

Okay, I filled in #2 for you, it was a toughie :-)

#10 is a fairly major 1950s prison film.
#13 is a 1940s black comedy starring Cary Grant that makes it onto most "best 100 films ever made" lists.

Damn, I just saw "Following" and I didn't get that one. Oops.

I'm guessing #13 is "Arsenic and Old Lace"?

dang just beat me too it :)

yup

Somebody better get #10 or I'm gonna have to give ANOTHER hint :-)

I thought about your hint and, though I haven't seen the film, I'm going to guess "Stalag 17."

yay!
