The "objective" rating system goes from 0 to 100.
In short my current rating system can be understood as follows:

90 - 100: Masterpiece
80 - 89: pure greatness - some of the best films in film history
70 - 79: must see - films that every movielover should see
60 - 69: very good - maybe you should include this in your DVD collection
50 - 59: good film, worth watching more than once
40 - 49: it's not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it
30 - 39: some redeeming qualities, but basically a failure
20 - 29: may still be watchable, but at your own risk
10 - 19: bad, but maybe some "trash" value
0 - 9: avoid by all means

the 10 star rating I've adapted from imdb, shows how i would rate a film on a scale from 1 to 10.

5 would be a decent film that has some moments, while 7 could mean that I enjoyed most of the film very much. 9 and 10 are definitely personal favorites.
