Ahh, Paul Newman. It always warms my heart to see him on a "favorites" list.

As a side note, in some ways it felt harder to create a favorite actors list than movies. I'm not sure why. My list ended up being much longer that I wanted it to be. So I admire your conciseness.

I love Newman too; rarely a misstep in his choice of roles. And I'm sure this list will swell as I think of more of my favorite films and the actors and actresses in them...

Have either of you seen Newman in Harper? An unusually fun outing from the great actor, in my book...

Shalom, y'all!

No, I don't believe I've heard of Harper; what is it? Color me piqued...

Johnny Waco

Harper's a late-60s detective film that plays much like an updated The Big Sleep (in fact, they got Lauren Bacall to be in it!). Newman's tons of fun, playing weary, cynical, and witty all at once.

It certainly isn't for everybody, as it does turn a bit dark as it goes on, but give it a shot some time. A great Friday night film.

Shalom, y'all!

I remember Harper, it was part of Paul's H series of sixties films that also include The Hustler, Hud and Hombre. It was a very good update on the Film-noir Detective genre. Newman was his usual stellar self.

You're trying to make sure I stay above 100 on my to see list, aren't you? :-)

Every little bit I can do, Jim...

No masterpiece, but certainly worth a viewing, especially if you love Newman.

Shalom, y'all!
