Discuss if you wish, insult me on my bad taste in music, or compliment me on my good taste in music. Whatever.

I'm still trying to figure out what your title means...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

It's the 101 best songs ever written. Pretty simple, do you need help going to the bathroom sometimes?

I know I have. They wouldn't even let me go home after my knee surgery until I was able to urinate.

I think it's obvious that The Definitive 101 Best Songs of All-Time!!! are the best musical compositions ever... in eatpork's opinion. Oops! I just noticed "Jackie Wilson Said" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. I guess it isn't the composition but the performance which makes the definitive song. My mistake.

What I'm wondering is if the Same Cooke who sang "A Change Is Gonne Come" is the same Same Cooke as the Sam Cooke who wrote "A Change Is Gonna Come" or the Sam Cooke who sang "Wonderful World"?

I'm mildly surprised that Dexy's Midnight Runners, David Bowie, Afroman and Arcade Fire have accounted for more than 10% of the Definitive 101 Best Songs of All-Time!!! At least Bob Dylan has three times as many songs on the list as Eric Cartman... that's only to be expected.

What was unexpected (to me) was a potty-mouth response to lbangs. I did not see that coming... and now I have to pee.

I'm in heaven
I'm In heaven
I'm In heaven when you smile
...

Knee sugery? Holy Gafoozles! Take rest you.

I also am surprised the potty-in-cheek reply. I am wondering whether this is hostile or not. I don't like trolls. They scare the beejapers out of me. And to the best of memory (which does fail sometime), the 'best' in the title was added later on. And what does 'definitive' mean anyways.

I'm gonna take eatpork's contributions as sincere. A sharp tongue doesn't always mean a mossy back. At the very least this list is long and eclectic. If I see proof positive that there's a roof over their heads... that's when I choose to quietly move along and leave the dirty work to a larger goat.

Until then eatpork is kosher by me.

I now have to find other excuses besides my knee injury to rest all day. As you go through your medical career let me give you this insight: ACL injuries aren't as painful as people say. They are much more painful than people say. Much more.

And ACL reconstruction surgery is worse. First time I ever had to take Vicodin.

When was the surgery? I hope all is well...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Thanks for the kind thought. The surgery was quite a while ago and the initial injury even deeper in the past. Since then I have been peeing prestissimo solo.

You might ask: What was the initial injury?
The answer would be: ACL

Yikes!

I'm glad to hear it is behind you, which beats before you by several suburban miles.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

Give me a few years, no doubt...

You should drop the definitive, then. It is meaningless in this context.

When you see the word on compilatiions, it means that the collection of songs defines an artist. The Definitive Chuck Berry claims to be the songs that define the man and his work.

If somebody claims Dark Side of the Moon is the definitive Pink Floyd album, they mean it sums up the band to the point of defining it.

The word does not mean the same as greatest. I may not be able to pee straight, but gee, I know that much. :)

(I was trying to point this out with a sense of humor, but if it offends you, I'll leave you be. Sorry for intruding.)

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I mostly used definitive as a way to spice up the lists' title. These are just my favorite songs of all-time, and I'm biased, so what I say is best is best!

"Because I Got High- Afroman "

yes, YES, yes! :D

It amuses me that a song containing the lyric:
"I ****ed a girl, she was from Hawaii,
I came in her ***, and she said aii!"
made number 2.

Crazy rap has that effect on people :P

Not to be technical, but don't you mean, your 200 favorite songs?
