These are artists that cause an instantaneous reflex action wherein my hand immediately flies towards the radio to change the station. Kind of like what happens in the morning when the alarm clock goes off, except that I like the alarm clock better.

Before I start getting death threats from Springsteen fans, let me explain that I think he's a fantastic songwriter and a decent musician; I just can't stand his voice.

I agree about k.d. lang (gotta get those non-caps right and all, yada yada) but only if you look at her post-reinvention ("Constant Craving", et al) stuff. Her classic stuff was incredible.

I'm not sure I'm willing to risk it. Constant Craving is enough to make me walk out of a store if it comes on. Blech. Even if her earlier stuff was great, I don't think I could bring myself to own one of her albums.

hey, not u2 and inxs!!!

'fraid so. U2 has not only awful music but awful ethics/politics. (Bono(?) was once arrested for spraypainting graffiti on one of our fountains here in SF.) The only song of theirs that is adequate is one that was just released on a compilation album or something -- something about "sorry" or whatever that he wrote for his wife years ago. Geez, I have wasted way too many brain cells on U2!

INXS just sucks. Sorry.

Yup...U2 could possibly be the most over-rated group in history. Their music give me a headache. I wouldn't buy an INXS album, but I've got to give them "the edge" over U2.

Hey, I like the song "With or Without You." Politically neutral, plus it reminds me of 6th grade! (I just dated myself, didn't I?)
