- Junior Senior
- Its been awhile since I've heard an album get so much hype from my friends like this one got. My understanding of Junior Senior was that they were a dance/punk/arty kind of band that was in the vein of Danse Macabre or the Rapture. Actually they're much closer to the syth pop garbage of the 80's than either of the two afore mentioned bands. The music is the worst kind of popular tripe with many of the rhythms being overused samples that the general populace has heard many times over, but for some reason these two from Iceland think no one has ever heard. There brightest moment on the CD is when they cover (rather loosely) 'Can't Stop the Beat' which is a take off on a song whose name escapes me (maybe the same name), but overall a very very lackluster album, with beats you've heard before, goofy lyrics, and awful duets.
- Rating (out of 10) ****
- Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
- 'Maybe all I need is to leave you alone...is least that's what he said....'This album starts out with a loud bang and them rambles rather unevenly to a less than fulfilling conclusion. There's around 12 ? tracks on this album, the most notable easily being the first one, with most of the other tracks being very experimental in nature for Wilco as they have seemed to have turned their backs on their alt country past for the time being. Some of the experiments are good and some aren't, overall well worth a listen but probably not anything groundbreaking

- Sonic Youth- Sonic Nurse
- Murray Street was a breath of fresh to an otherwise seemingly washed out band, this CD blows all the fears of Sonic Youth's demise out the window. This CD is truly a gem, naturally the cd has two or three tracks that aren't all that great like everything else. Even the lady's songs (which I normally dislike) are incredibly well done in some cases, surprisingly many of the songs are rather laid back most of the time. The lyrics are wonderful, the guitars are nearful in perfect sync, and this band is back to where they belong. Go buy this Cd its a wonderful treat.

Some of those Sasha & Digweed comps are killers! That Interpol is great too! Good calls.
I like Portishead, but I LOVE Dummy.
Shalom, y'all!

Yeah, some of Junor Senior is pop-synth garbage, some not. I agree, The Rapture are leagues ahead of this band. But, Junior Senior gets the award for mostly to get stuck in my head in my book. That's worth something. It is very goofy.
Wilco, oh Wilco, I thought they had a better effort in them. After letting this album fully soak in, it's pretty apparant they have not again reached the barrier of potential that they set with 'YHF'. The album does have fulfilling moments after Track 1 though I would say. "Spiders" and "Handshake Drugs" are pretty good tunes. You're right, certainly not groundbreaking overall, but nonetheless in my Top 10 of 2004 so far.
Havent heard 'Sonic Nurse', but I liked 'Murray Street'.
