Donnie Darko and 2001 both have wondeful soundtracks two of the best, Pulp Fiction as well.

Resevoir Dogs? Maybe?

...do you mean soundtrack as in collection of music by random artists, or the movie's score done by a composer? i can never tell, and people never seem to specify.

if it's the collection of songs youre after, my vote(s) would go to batman returns, donnie darko, pulp fiction, natural born killers, and o brother where art thou.

if you're talking movie scores... jurassic park and star wars (john williams), crimson tide (hans zimmer), batman (danny elfman), conan the destroyer (basil poledoris), american beauty and shawshank redemption (thomas newman), toy story (randy newman)

...and ill throw in the dust brother's work on fight club for good measure. not spectacular, but i guess it fit the movie well enough for me to like it.

o.d.

I think most of my choices on this list are the score, some are the various artists. Donnie Darko for various and score. I'm not sure Pulp Fiction has a score and a few others might be for various artists.

Good list! I would suggest adding Lord of the Rings (all three are awesome, by Howard Shore) and Annie. I love Annie.

You can't have a list like this without Moulin Rouge or The Royal Tenenbaums. Both are amazing, both in the various songs and in the original stuff. The Cold Mountain soundtrack is excellent as well.

I most decidely concur with both suggestions. The Royal Tenenbaums has really hit it big among the teens I know. Nearly single-handedly brought Nico back from rock critic obscurity.

I wasn't even thinking of various artist soundtracks (besides Reservoir Dogs), I was mostly thinking of scores, but Royal Ts has one of my favorite various artist soundtracks.

Check out 'Grosse pointe blank' its a killer soundtrack

Cool list! I'm partial to Koyaanisqatsi and Truman Show.

"The Graduate" Has a great soundtrack

Yes it does, I had forgotten about it.

"Rushmore" has aldo a great soundtrack.

Also "Grosse pointe Blank"

I'll have to rewatch Rushmore as I didn't like it too much the first time I watched it. I loved the Tenenbaum's soundtrack, so I'm sure Rushmore's is good. Haven't seen Grosse Pointe Blank.

I would add Trainspotting, Rushmore and Goodwill Hunting

I recall trainspotting having a good soundtrack, but I don't exactly remember it...and I saw it recently. So much for my memory. I'll have to hear it again soon. I checked out Rushmore from my library and will watch it within a week and see if I like the soundtrack. Haven't seen or heard anything from Goodwill Hunting so that will be in the queue to hear.

I thought Last of The Mohicans had an awesome score? Easy Rider, along with its cinematography, is largely blessed by it's soundtrack. Otherwise the story is a little ambiguous and some characters are two-dimensional. Jack Nicholson's performance is easily the best in the movie, which is probably the reason why he was nominated for best supporting actor.

My all-time favourites would be The Who's Quadrophenia and the Requiem For A Dream score.
