Because Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and the United States all speak English, their movies aren't considered foreign films. So all the foreign films here are movies from any other country besides those.

I'm still trying to watch as many acclaimed foreign films as I can to get a better taste for the genre. Any recommendations?

Most people wouldn't even consider making a list chronicling the "best" of anything unless they were actually familiar with what the list concerns. To each his own, I guess.
