This is my favourite sub-genre of trance/techno. Some of these would be categorized as "Hard Acid," not acid trance.

Hi, I was looking for hard acid trance recommedations and sljiva mentioned you were into the genre. This list appears to be what I'm looking for. I'm looking for tracks similar to Acid Air Raid, basically no holds barred acid tracks which blow your mind. Would you have any recommendations?

I've also heard Higher State of Consciousness, Chemical Beats, Red Herring and Access. Didn't like Access though and Red Herring was good but somewhat ambient. Have you heard Chemical Brothers - Believe? Like Chemical Beats its acid breaks but I rate it higher.

Do you like or have you heard Hardfloor? They make the best acid trance, and basically invented the genre, imo.

I also really like Pump Panel, ie. Ego Acid, or Confusion.

We must have different tastes though, since I think Accesss is one of the best acid tracks ever made.

I suggest going through my list and seeing what you like. It's in order of preference.

I've got Hardfloor - Acperience 1 and its very good, I love the way the acid gradually builds up, and then the base and acid really kick in.

As for Access, I hope I've got the right version as I seem to be the only person who doesn't like it. Short explanation is that there is no melody. Long explanation: The artists haven't paid any attention to giving it a rhythm, the pitch varies randomly and its sounds a bit commercial. Contrast it with Higher State of Conciousness where the part after the pitch stops rising is simply amazing, its warps, twists and does what acid is supposed to do, and it has a breakbeat unlike Access which has the usual snare/hat beat.

I don't really think you can dismiss Access because it doesn't have a 'breakbeat', as most acid tracks don't. That being said, you're right about the fact that Access doesn't really have a melody. It's all about the hard pulsating acid beats. It's made by DJ Tim Taylor and DJ Misjah who make some of the hardest and best acid tracks, but they generally don't have a melody, and if they do, it's an acid line repeated over and over. But these tracks are meants to be hard, and driving... that's what it's all about.

If you prefer acid with more of a melody, you'd like Red Herring (as you said), and Baby Doc and the Dentist - Catalan Rising/Catalan Dawn, Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Mix), Ab Chic - Nexus 6, and Wippenberg - Neurodancer. Those all have more of a melody going on, in addition to the acid line.

Yeah I guess you're right, and Access just isn't my scene. Thanks for making those specific recommendations, I'll check them out.

Since you like Goa, you'd probably like my Goa/Acid mix. It's under, "A history of trance 3" in my mixes section. Just click on the link to download. It has some tracks I suggested on it as well.

Good list. I like Hardfloor, but Aphex Twin is probably my favourite Acid artist.

Aphex Twin isn't acid...

I made an "Most Acidic Traxx" list which might interest you. Its just hard acid trance/breaks though, no acid techno on it.

Nice list, although personally i've never understood the hype around acperience 1, I think there's many better tunes by Hardfloor. Just two recomendations:

Acrid abeyance - minimalistic
Pendragon - acid people
